Finding my "why"

I need to lose about 15 pounds to feel comfortable with myself. My trouble is that I can't find a "why" that motivates me. It used to be to get attention from guys...but I've been married for 8 years. I am not considered overweight so health concerns aren't motivating either. Any suggestions???

  • Is there anything you'd like to do that a lack of strength/fitness is preventing? Running a 10k? Rock climbing? A really tough hike? Anything you can think of to train for at all?

I just completed a triathlon on Sunday. Training for it really helped me stick to my physical goals but I didn't lose an ounce. Obviously diet needs some attention.

Only you can find your why, but let me tell you I wish I had done something about my weight gain when it was 15 pounds or even 20 pounds compared to now where I still have 40 to go after losing 20+ already. The longer you put it off the harder and more of it there is.

Well, that's impressive! Did you enjoy it? Will you do more? If so, your "why" is to drop a few pounds to be quicker and beat your previous time. I find fitness-related goals much more motivating than a number on the scale anyway.
