Hi guys! Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for people with JAM PACKED schedules?

Starting in a couple weeks, I will be going back to school part time (I took a break this summer). On Monday and Thursday nights, I will be at work from 9-5:30pm (or thereabouts), and will be in class from 7:20pm-10pm. ETA: I don't work close to home, so I'll be going to campus straight from work.

The catch is that I'll be taking public transportation, and there's not too many healthy options near campus. I have a "stash" at work of go-to foods like whole grain bread, salad mix, fruit, light string cheese, etc. What are some good portable options to bring along to class?

Suggestions are appreciated..please don't try to sell me any Shakeology, though. thanks!!!!

    LOL!

I'd stock up on some good granola and nut/nut mixes...try making your own trailmix and putting it in little individual serving bags...I always have a few of these in my purse!

Sandwichs are good if you make them healthily. =) string cheeses or those cracker barrel cracker cuts that are like a single serving slice of cheese. Fruit is always good because you can wash it and stick it in a baggy and go, same with precut veggies. Hardboiled eggs are good as well if you like eggs, containers of lowfat or fatfree yogurt, salad is good if you don't mind packing the containers, cheese, crackers and deli meat, some nuts if you like them, trailmixes if you're not really in the mood to eat but need your calories, protein bars are good too (You can usually get Clif and Luna bars for 1.50$ each at Walmart) maybe a scoop of protein powder and skim milk that you can shake up on your way to class. =)

I go straight from work to school and one of my plans was to bring a thermos with soup or other things. You could bring the food in a container to work, heat it up there and then put it in the thermos before you go. That way it can be nice and warm. I was planning on bringing soups, but things like noodles would work well.

Hmm....never thought about soups! Sounds good.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone...I'm taking notes!

Most campuses have a space with a microwave and if you are an adult student coming straight from work most professors won't mind if youe at in class. I did the same thing. Worked until 5 and then had class from 6-10. I would just pack healthy leftovers that I made at home and ate it in class. Just ask ont he first day of class if they mind if you eat in class since you're coming straight from work. Sanwiches are also okay, but I have just realized exactly how much sodium is in sandwich meat so be careful about that. Better than drive thru though so work with what you can. Lol.
  • Get yourself a cute little insulated lunch bag that you can keep in fridge at work and eat what you pack for yourself. Salads, sandwhiches anything that you don't need to heat up. Just pack it the day before.
