Slow going

I need some encouragement.
I'm turning 30 in December.
I'd love to half-way to my goal by then.
I currently weigh 171.0
I want to get back to my pre-baby 110.
I'm 5 feet tall.
I exercise at least 30 minutes a day and eat at least 1200 calories a day.
On days I have more time I exercise for an hour.
I'm losing weight, which is good, but its going so slowly.
I've been holding off on getting my wedding ring resized (it still doesn't fit post baby) but I also think maybe I should since I don't know how long it will take me for it to fit again. The ring just reminds me of how much I've gained and where I was and how I'm not at that weight anymore, which is slightly depressing.
I'll get there eventually, right?

What if you wear your ring around your neck on a beautiful chain until it fits again?0

Try and not to get discouraged, you'll get there!
Remember to eat back your exercise calories....you want your Net calories to be at 1200 or above.

Getting your ring resized is almost like accepting that you will be fat. I wouldn't recommend it at all. Wear it around your neck to remind you of where you WILL be. Weight loss is slow going - but if you're making life long changes to your habits, not only are you going to get back to your healthy weight, you will keep it off, and you will be setting a great example for your child(ren).
Don't stop working for it - just try to change the way you view it.0 -
Hi there! I would say a good thing to do is to open your food journal to be 'friends only'. I say that because we are already friends on here.
The only thing I can tell you are doing that seems to be hindering your progress on here (to lose the 1-2 lbs/week) is that you are consistently falling below your daily calorie goals on MFP. If you are logging every workout and every bite you should be meeting your calorie goals for each day, not falling below. This will lead to the 1-2 lbs/week you have set as your goal. Right now what you are doing is having a deficit to the built-in deficit and your body is not letting go of the weight. This is the same concept Weight Watchers uses.
You're doing an amazing job of staying active and a great job on here!!
The best advice I can give is make sure you eat every few hours. Pre-log your workouts and spread those extra calories around during the day as healthy whole foods.0 -
Hi,
It's rough to lose weight while parenting a little one. I have two, a 5 year old and a 2 year old. How old is your baby? Did you breastfeed? Are you still breastfeeding? I find that my body holds onto fat pockets while I am breastfeeding, to help me make milk. I also know that when I wean this one, some of those pockets will melt away. It's something to think about. What exercise are you doing? A mix of cardio and strength training seems to work for me, I've lost 30+ lbs since January.
Are you netting over 1200-- if you net (total after exercise) less than 1200, your body might beholding onto every little thing because it needs more energy. Try to eat enough of your exercise calories back to net over 1200, also eat cleaner whenever possible.
It is rough, but doable.

my son is one. I just stopped nursing.
I'm doing a cardio/weights mix... however less weights these days since I have a fractured elbow.
I think my major problem is not netting enough. As you and others have said.
and I think starting tomorrow I'll change my settings and make things public. New start. Clean slate.
thank you everyone for your support. I really need it these days, just feeling discouraged!0 -
Slow is the best way. You will have a better chance to keep it off.0

A fractured elbow- YIKES!!! I hope it heals soon.
Congratulations for nursing your little one for so long. That is a huge accomplishment, be proud of yourself for that.
I try to make one little positive choice each day, and then congratulate myself for that choice- a healthier snack, no creamer in my coffee, etc., and then really focus on that positive choice. For me, it helps keep me positive (especially on the difficult parenting days).
You can do it, it just may take some time.0 -
Even though it would be fantastic to just melt pounds away, loosing too much weight too quickly is very unhealthy. So, as much as it sucks, slow is good. I know how it is to wish you could be in those pre-baby clothes. My little boy is also 1, 14 months to be exact and I am still 15 pounds heavier than before I had him and had been gaining weight before. You can do it! Getting your ring resized will be your ultimate reward!0
