Anyone have issues with eating certain foods and gaining 5 lbs over night?
Does gluten do this to anyone?
Sugar?
Regular carbs?
Salt?
Is it a matter of hydration?

Had one of these recently after adjusting contraception. Gained 6lbs in less than a week. Lost it 5 days later. It was just water retention. My hands felt puffy too, so I knew it was just water.

A big Mexican meal will make the scale go up a few pounds overnight for me. Sometimes it takes 5 days for me to get back where I started. The value of logging and weighing myself is so i can learn how my body works with retention of water, weight gain and loss, etc..

All kinds of things can cause this...extra food/ waste in your system, high sodium meal, poor sleep, starting/increasing exercise, hormones, etc. It's part and parcel to being alive.

I can gain 3 or 4 pounds overnight from excess sodium but I've never noticed any particular food - just any with a lot of salt.

Then again, I had surgery recently and came home from the hospital 12 pounds higher than when I left home. Taken nearly 3 weeks for it all to go away.
