I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. On the other hand when I look at the big picture and the averages it has been a consistent loss except for two rounds. Round 53 was my 50 birthday celebrations that upped my weight for a few days.
I need to step up my game if I want to meet any of my goals.

10/17 - 181.4 - apparently I'm able to maintain at this weight very well.
10/18 - 181.2 - Too many carbs again yesterday.
10/19 - 181.0 - oh so slow....
10/20 - 181.2 - ate KFC yesterday and I know better.

10/22 - 181.4 - This is not going to be a good round. I am so disappointed in myself, I'm not sure where my discipline has gone lately but I really need to find it again.

@abowersgirl - thank you for your post - it made me hopeful. Your self awareness and your determination to manage your mental as well as your physical health are fantastic. Your description of yourself as 'a self nagging perfectionist who is also a pessimist" also fits my 18 y/o. He will not accept any praise or acknowledgement from others nor give himself credit for what he accomplishes and so for the most part he does nothing. I really hope that as he gets older he can learn a little of your perspective and determination. I think that learning to manage your thoughts and emotions is hard work, but definitely worth it! keep on keeping on - you are a inspiring example for me.6

10/19 - 207.0 - went to my son’s hockey BBQ as planned and only had the veggie burger that I brought with me. And it was enough. It was more about enjoying the outdoors and the people. I didn’t care about not having the chips that were there. Today is normally a bit of a free day for me but I’m going to try my best to track everything, get my water and steps in
10/20 - 207.0. I’m so happy with this. I tracked everything yesterday which kept me from having more of a free day than I might have. I had some salty meals yesterday so I’m going to drink tonnes of water today.
10/21 - 209.0 - looks like the salt caught up to me. I had one slice of pizza last night and that really put me over. I also only got half my steps for the day. Drinking a lake today and walking more.
10/22 - 208.0 - and the salt is going away. Although I up since Friday this is probably the least amount I have gained over a weekend in a long time so I’m feeling pretty happy right now. My food is all planned out for today. Planned a walk at lunch so just need to make sure I get my water in again today.

10/15- 184.2- good thing this went back down. Weekend didn't go as well as it could have to be honest but I packed a really healthy lunch today and the day has been good so far! Will go to the gym to workout later in the day after my class. I'm a little behind on biochemistry due to my biology exam last week so will be catching up on that today until class starts.
10/16- 184.4- Not upset over this. I think it will be better tomorrow. I worked out yesterday. Won't be able to today. Have a lot of studying to do today.
10/17- 184.0- Yay. Hopefully I'll be 183.something tomorrow? I've been eating on the higher range of my calorie goal this past week so I'm going to try to eat on the lower side today and get a bunch studying done. So far so good.
10/18- 184.6- lol omg.
10/19- 185.0- okay. No. We're not doing this. I know the scale will probably be even higher tomorrow as well so I'm anticipating that but starting tomorrow we're going back to the previous week's meals because those gave me much better results. We're trying to get to at least 182. Here we go!
10/20- 186.0- It's okay. We're back to business today even though it's Saturday lol
10/21- 185.7- This will go down more tomorrow. I'm sure of it.
10/22- 184.8- slow and steady. will do the same thing today and hopefully it'll keep going lower. I'll try to end in 183.something by being under calories today and tomorrow. Not quitting or taking a break until I get to 180.0 this time. Can't keep relapsing.

3. No Bingeing (new attitude on food outside of my home and socially)
4. 20-50 Net Carbs Daily. 1277 Calories Daily.
5. 10,000 steps per day. Mixed modes of exercise.
6. Lots of water, green tea daily, apple cider vinegar before carby meals. Increase my fiber. Reach my protein goal of 80g per day.
7. Check my blood sugar daily for improvements.

10/15 169.2 This is the number I wanted to see yesterday, but today’s good, too. It was raining when I woke up for my walk with Thor (my GSD). So, we slept another 1½ hours, and it was still raining. I’ll have to exercise inside today. Thor can run in the yard, and I’ll dry him off. I’m happy I mowed my yard and burned my brush piles before the rain started. I'd rather work outside, but I'll bake oatmeal cookies for my thin husband, cook Turkey Cabbage Stew to portion out and freeze, and do my husband's ironing so he'll look well cared for. After the rain stops—plant winter garden. Praying for a blessed day for all you fellow losers! I love being a (weight) loser.
10/16 168.4 Unexpected! I hope it doesn’t come back tomorrow. I have lunch at the women’s club meeting today—good time to practice restraint in preparation for the 10-day tour in New England states next month.
10/17 167.4 Really? Just to be sure, I got on the scale again, and verified the number. I’m keeping it! Thor and I did our 3+ mile walk this cool morning. The side is kinda blown out on my right walking boot, but I didn’t wear my newer pair because I realized this lets my toes spread and prevents the pain from my Norton’s Neuroma (small tumor between my toes). The Lord blesses me in mysterious ways. 😊 I think I can credit this keto WOE for less arthritis pain in my back/hips and shoulder. Even if I wasn’t losing weight, it’s worth being able to get more done without pain.
10/18 167.4 I’m good with no change today. Didn’t get to walk today, but I had a great day hanging out with friends. I turned down sweets, but had a glass of wine. I hope it doesn’t haunt me tomorrow.
10/19 167.0 I like the way this is going! Thor and I got in our 3.2 mile walk today. Rain drops began falling on our heads before we reached the half-way point, but we didn’t let it stop us. The rain stopped, and the walk was enjoyable. When we started, herds of cattle would trot to the fence along the road to see if we had anything for them. Now, they’re used to us and just glance up and go back to grazing. 😊
10/20 167.4 The scale giveth and the scale taketh away. I prefer “taketh away.” (Sigh) I stuffed myself to get over 1000 calories last night. Perhaps I shouldn’t have bothered. No walk with Thor today, but a nice day with my husband--Gosnell movie, lunch, and shopping. I'm glad they put Dr. Gosnell away for life, but I'm afraid there are more "doctors" like him in other cities.
10/21 167.6 I may have to buy a new scale. I feel cheated. Oh, well. I had to get an early start and meet the gospel group I sing with for a couple of engagements today. I can walk tomorrow morning, and, perhaps, the scale will behave better in a couple of days. If I don’t get better numbers before the end of the round—out it goes!

Edited to add: I figured it out. There's a breakfast recipe I entered a long time ago and we had that yesterday (popovers). They are well within calories but the sodium came out so freakishly high that I assumed MFP couldn't accurately account for the sodium. Let's see how a day of all the water works tomorrow.9 -

10/15 152 I'm really surprised I didn't gain anything from the weekend. I felt so full and yucky yesterday from all the wine I had Saturday night. I only had 700 calories yesterday though because I really couldn't eat much. Not complaining though! Hope you all are well, I didnt have much time on my phone this weekend to read all your posts but I plan to go back through them today .

10/22 150.5 Yesterday was homecoming at my church so there was tons of food. I didn't eat too bad, but had sweet tea which I normally skip and dessert. I know eating like this some of the times is ok, but also know if I keep eating like I have this weekend my weight will creep back up! Staying mindful of this. Happy my weight maintained through the weekend though!

10/15: 196.2 -- what? This is the highest weight that I've seen in a while and it is super discouraging. I've been logging religiously and working out- I guess I've got to lower my calories.

10/18: 196.2 -- STILL. I guess this isn't surprising. I was very sedentary the last few days and the work trip came with lots of eating events. I am bummed though because I was hoping the 196 number was a fluke. I guess I need to own it. Today my goal is to stick within my calorie range and show a big deficit. I also want to get my body movin'!
10/19: 194.2 -- this seems a little back to normal. I did pretty good with my food yesterday but my portion sizes were a bit too large last night at dinner. I did make it to lunchtime spin class which was a feat given my crazy schedule yesterday. Today is Friday and I've got a super healthy lunch packed. Planning to hit the gym at lunch- or maybe head outside for a run if the sun comes out. I've had a long week at work and I'm looking forward to the weekend.
10/20: 193.6 -- Yay it's Saturday! It's beautiful weather, and I'm headed to a great afternoon party at a friend's farm this afternoon. Weight down a little. Yesterday I ran for 2 miles after work even though I did not feel like it AT ALL. I kept trying to talk myself out of it. Why do we do that to ourselves? Anyway, today I plan to get in a strength workout before heading to the party.
10/21: 195 -- What? Oh well. Party was fun and I had two IPAs so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm trying not to drink too much alcohol these days. I love having a glass or two of wine in the evenings and beer outdoors when the weather is nice, but I need to really limit my intake in order to meet my overall health goals. I do feel better when I don't drink. Before the party, I hammered out a strength training workout, it's been a while since I've done any strength stuff besides yoga, so I am going to feel this one!
10/22: 193.2 -- Monday, Monday. Yesterday was amazing- I hauled my horse down to the national forest with a friend and we rode for 5 hours on beautiful forest trails. My husband is the best for watching the kids so I could get one last good ride in before the rains come! It was a great workout and left me full of love and gratitude. Today it's back to work and the usual hustle and bustle of the week and trying to make everything work. I have no idea how to get in a workout today, honestly. Tomorrow I head on ANOTHER work trip, and I am a little nervous about making it all work, but I will do my best.

Rules of my game plan...log EVERYTHING!, no eating 7p-7a, no eating while packing lunches...exercise everyday (no matter what!) and try to breathe!

10/16 / day 2 feeling good! No broken rules yet!
10/17 / day 3 challenging day at work so no lunch/no gym time : ( then starving at home but chose smartly (10 almonds) on my way to bus stop...no stuffing mouth with whatever I found in fridge (that's a WIN for me). Then normal dinner. Still no snacking after 7p! I almost broke the no ex. rule but found a way to sneak in a dog walk, albeit in a freak hail storm, behind my daughters dance studio..I should get an Oreo for that! Just kiddin. On my way to 130...I can almost taste it! ha, I kill me!
10/18 / day 4 getting on the scale today after my 30 in 30 class at noon!! fingers crossed!--> UPDATE DRUM ROLL....148.6 (-3.8)...ringing the bell!!! So happy, but cautious. This is the incentive I needed to make it thru the weekend. Football (GO SPARTANS and BILLS!!!) and 1st Halloween party . Good luck to everyone facing similar potentially ruff situs!

10/20 / day 6/ ...Football (GO SPARTANS!)/Halloween party!... PARTY - 2 beers and 1 GF brownie which was (oh lordy..so good!). For the day +40c/+40sugar/+16carbs and 2 broken rules!! 1. I did not exercise, unless cheering at the SPARTANS game counts!, and 2. I ate after 7p...the party started at 7p! Still I felt good about the day..mainly cause the SPARTANS lost BUT the score was 13 14..which for us, is amazing!! What a great way to end the season...BILLS?...not so much.

10/22 / day 8 - time is flying. Gonna jump on the scale at lunch (after workout). I'm a bit nervous.

Last round was a gain but now into the winter routine and hoping to shed the gain from the last 2 rounds and be back to 159 or under.Round 39 (1st for me) – SW 163, loss -.2Ultimate Goal Weight – 128; Hoping to be under 140 by end of June. This is less than 1 lb. per round but as I realize that may not be possible as I get lower (1 lb per round would put me at 131).
Round 40 – on holidays, gain +1.6
Round 41 – SW 164.4, loss -2
Round 42 - SW: 162.6, loss -.6
Round 43 – SW 162, loss -.4
Round 44 – SW 161.6, loss -1.6
Round 45 – SW 160.8, gain +1
Round 46 – SW 161.8, gain +.6
Round 47 – SW 162.4, loss -2.2
Round 48 – SW 160.2, missed most of this round and Round 49 as I was away without computer or scale.

10/15 – 161.9 - Early to the gym today as hubby needed the car so posting late. Sure feels good to have worked the muscles a bit.
10/16 - 162 – Argh, the last few weeks coming home to roost. Having fed the cravings monster faithfully, now have to beat it back and kick it out. Listened to Youtube last night and someone made an aside comment about the theory that what we eat promotes certain bacteria in our gut so if we eat lots of sugar/carbs we will crave that because that is what our gut bacteria now want.
10/17 - 161.4 Gym today. Got some apples in the house again. They are so good at this time of year and keep me from other desserts/snacks.

10/19 - 160.8 – Good day yesterday. Still a little over cals. but not with sugar/fat. Got a few things done that have been sitting there forever it seems. One was so fast I can’t believe I procrastinated on it so long. The other is slow, as I guessed it would be, but at least I can see it chipping away.
10/20 - 162 – Sigh, LNS again, at least not too bad on the calories. Have to wonder why what seems so self-sabotaging in the morning can seem so reasonable at night. Need to think – “Will I regret this tomorrow morning?” not “This won’t really matter, I can get away with it because I went to the gym.”

10/22 – 160.6 - This is better, but need some days within my cals. to get out of the 160’s. No gym today as I need to get the leaves raked while they are still dry for my leaf chopper. Thankful for the beautiful crisp fall weather we’ve been having but also ready to be finished with outside jobs. We usually get cold rain/snow for Halloween and then freezing temps. through Nov. with the real snow coming later that month.

What great insight! You are absolutely right! We must be as mindful of our thoughts as we are about ALL the other aspects of our plan. I, too, will make this a goal.
BTW - Your thoughts, your ideas and your plans are never a rant. They are a part of your testimony and we appeciate you sharing. We learn so much from eachother! Continue to celebrate hitting and maintaining in the 140's from 230 lbs! You are doing fantastic because you DO come at this from every angle. While you celebrate your success, know how much we appreciate your sharing the above insight. It will help us all.
