Can you actually do this?

Hi there! I often question myself all the time if i can work myself through the weight loss, or maybe for you ita weight gain. I often fall to my cravings and bite off more than i SHOULD chew, so to speak. I think it would do me well to have someone to motivate each other and have small chit chats once in a while... My Calorie Budget is 1200 on here but my hopes is to stay under 1000. I am on a plant based diet living with two meat eating, junk food fueling men and need to be pushed to keep on track! Thank you 💞

What are you hoping to achieve by starving yourself?

    1200 net is the minimum.
What is your age, height, and weight? What are your goals?

you shouldn't be staying under 1200 NET with exercise - and that is a bare minimum calories for a female who is sedentary

Unfortunately, eating so little is setting yourself up for failure or illenss and other health issues (possibly bad ones, such as heart failure if you do it long enough). You should never ever ever eat less than 1200 calories after taking away exercise calories.

This is where I get confused because people say exercise calories are inflated but you shouldn't net less than 1200 but if your goal before exercise is 1200 you then have to eat all your calories earned to net 1200 which may be inflated???

If the calories are inflated, you aren't truly netting less than 1,200. The goal is to have a reasonable estimate for calories actually burned and eat those back. The inflated calories can be disregarded for the sake of calculating your net calories.

This is where trial and error come in. When you choose the absolute bare minimum calorie level to start with, it's better to start out eating ALL your exercise calories to ensure proper nutrition. If after a couple of months you are not losing at a reasonable pace, then you know your exercise calories were a bit inflated and adjust based on your actual rate of loss. Considering there are very few women who actually need to go as low as 1200 cals to lose weight, it is better to err on the side of caution, IMHO.

You may be falling off the wagon becuase you are starving yourself which is unhealthy. 1000 net is not healthy or safe.

Don't make weight loss HARDER than it needs to be, putting your health at risk and increasing odds of not being able to stick to it.

Set yourself up for success by loosing weight in a healthy and steady way forming habits you can keep for life and feeling full and happy. If your stats in MFP says to eat 1200 then eat ALL THOSE CALORIES (and the exercise calories or at least a good portion of them).

First of all 1000 net isn't enough, like others have said.

My goal is 1200 calories. I started at 186, currently at 176 and trying to reach 140lbs.

It isn't always enough though, so if I need to I bump it up by a few 100 calories.

I have found that for this amount of calories to sustain me, I need to make sure I include plenty of vegetables, which have tons of volume and nutrients for not many calories. The days when I don't eat enough vegetables are the ones where I feel hungry. Other than that, I feel pretty satisfied eating this way.

My weekly net average is in between 1200-1300cals.

It isn't necessary, or even always appropriate, to maintain such an agressive deficit but it works for some of us.
