I am 380 pounds and really starting to feel my body inside feeling different. I always start eating right, give up and start again so many times. I think the reason is that as soon as my brain says diet i eat foods i hate but think i should eat to be healthy, like i always think oatmeal, beans, a certain amount of veggies and fruits daily, flax seeds, fish(yukk) broccoli just things you read you should eat.. I know well think their is a difference between eating to lose weight and eating to be healthy. But when i eat crap i could care less what it is and how much of it i eat. I would love some advice:
Should i be eating just to get the weight off as i ssid im 380 pounds and getting up in age then woory about the health part after.
Maybe that would keep me going as long as i start tracking my foods. Then after the weight starts coming off start thinking things like more veggies and stuff.
Oh and i forgot to add also i think you need drink tons of water also.
Thanks for any and all advice. Have a great evening..

What have you all done when started. Eat things you still do just track or the same thing i always did.0

Hey, have you started tracking your calories? Try that for a week and see if you can make any small changes.3

Don't try and change everything at once that is always going to be too hard.
Like L1zardQueen says. The first step is to log everything you eat for a week. Just eat what you would normally eat but log it all honestly. Once you can see the amount of calories in what you are eating then you can start to make changes.
Look at your foods and you will soon see where the most calories are coming from. One of the things that stood out for me was bread and butter I ate tons of the stuff with every meal.
Make small changes in the amount of the high calorie foods. You don't have to cut out the things you love just cut back on the amounts or how often you have them.
Once you get a grip on that and you are eating to your calorie allowance then you can start looking at nutrition and adding more healthy things but still make sure they are things that you actually like. As you have found out you wont keep going if you are forcing yourself to eat things you don't like.
I still eat pizza, chocolate, cake, etc but I make sure it fits into my calorie allowance for that day or I eat a little less the following day.
As for water you don't need to drink gallons just make sure your urine is light in colour and you will be ok.
Read some of the sucsess stories on here, these are real people facing the same struggle as you and they have done it and so can you.

Just focus on tracking your calories to start. You don't need to do any drastic diets or overhaul your eating habits overnight. Calories in vs Calories out is the main concern when it comes to weight loss so start there. Focus on counting your calories and creating a deficit. As you go, you can start adding in some other changes that are more about healthy eating like eating more veggies, cutting out sugar, drinking more water.
Trying to change everything about your diet all at once is setting yourself up to fail. It takes awhile to form new habits so you can't add a bunch of new ones all at once! Weight loss is a long journey, you'll have plenty of time to get all the healthy eating down along the way, you don't need to be perfect from the outset.1 -
Many people find that losing weight is beneficial to their health even if they don't change their overall eating pattern. Don't make things harder than they have to be, that's my advice!
Like others have said, you can begin by just tracking what you're eating now and that will help you identify where you can change your portion size. You might also begin to get ideas of some simple swaps that you can make to ensure you're meeting more of your nutritional needs (if it turns out that you aren't).1 -

You may want to start your own thread instead of using this one.0
