Bcaa’s losing their use?

There was an owner of a nutrishop at my gym yesterday. I got to chatting with him about supplements when he noticed I had a water bottle mixed with bcaa’s. I usually sip on the bcaa’s throughout my 1.5 hour workout. He started to tell me how bcaa’s stop being effective 30 min after mixed and how the brand he had can sit in water all day and be fine.
Sounded like bull **** to me, (amino acids are the building blocks.. they aren’t going to breakdown more or be denatured right?) but I don’t know enough about the subject to argue otherwise.
Anyone have any insight on this?
