I’ve struggled with my weight for many years now. I just had a baby five months ago and I’m trying to shed these pounds! I keep going off track and I feel like I can do it but then a craving will get in the way or someone will get me food or something and it will throw me off for a while. It’s very discouraging especially when you aren’t seeing any progress:(

I'd like to answer but my response might be a little "direct" so I won't unless you'd like to hear it and think that might help1

It will happen when you have decided it's time to make it happen. Make small changes and don't let one meal that didn't fit into your plans become a whole day, and then a whole week. It's about choices from one minute to the next. And don't beat yourself up when those moments happen, because they do. You are human and they will continue to happen.
Here's a good read on motivation:

It doesn’t ‘happen’. You do it.
Or you don’t do it, and make up excuses. Pick one.7 -
It will happen exactly when you've had enough and decide to make it happen. Nothing will happen on its own, you will not find motivation somewhere. You have to want it bad enough to commit to it, and if you do, a single "bad" meal or even day won't matter, because you will just get back on track. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it's truly the only way. Nobody from the outside can help you with it.
Somebody on here said "Being fat is hard. Losing weight is hard. Pick your hard." For me, that sums it up perfectly.3 -

it will 'happen' when you consistently eat less than you burn.0 -

If you crave something then eat it. Just make it fit your calorie allowance.
No food is off limits.
If someone gets you food then either decline it or measure out a serving that fits your calories.
You have a five month old child, think now about the eating habits you will show them.4 -
OK. Since others have hit on some of the things I wanted to say in a more delicate fashion that I could I'll just ad one thing
It will happen when YOU make it happen. No one is going to do this for you and the first step is taking responsibility. It's all too easy to place the blame for our actions somewhere else. The problem with this is that we can't control or fix external forces.
So where you say "A craving will get in the way" you mean "I didn't manage a craving" and "Someone will give me food" should be "I accepted food from someone". Even the title of your post sounds like you're waiting for something external to happen TO you.
So take control and own your actions this gives you the power to change them. Then you'll know exactly when it will happen because it will be you that is MAKING it happen.
