Belly apron: surgery?

The more weight I lose, the bigger the belly apron of lose skin I have gets. Is it actually possible to tighten up all that skin through exercise? If so how? If not, I can’t afford surgery to remove if unless somehow it can be covered. I live in Canada. Does anyone know how much weight someone has to have lost for it to be s procedure covered by health care? I do have issues with chaffing already and rashes due to heat, etc. I’ve only lost 40 lbs, but I’ve had 4 babies and the skin is really loose and stretched out.

you can get some tightening up to 12 months after you stop losing weight, but there's no exercise that will do that.

I lost over 100 lbs and it wasn't covered. I'm in Alberta.0

It's not covered in Newfoundland as it's considered cosmetic surgery. I looked into it and the only way it *might* be covered by private health insurance is if it's extremely detrimental to your health like serious infections that won't heal unless the skin is removed.0

In case you are curious about the cost I paid $16,500 for mine. My girlfriend had the procedure and hers was $16,000.1

Hey,
So you can apply for a grant from here
http://www.weightlossgrants.org/program-guidelines
If the link doesn't work you can just google "weight loss grants Canada"
It's not covered in Canada at all to answer that question.
As for the skin, it depends on the person and age however I lost most of my weight (170lbs) before I was 30 yrs old (35 now)and still have the same amount of skin so ... it's more of a "you get use to it thing".
Cost's vary depending on what has to be done, I was told $20,000 from a plastic surgeon in North York (Toronto) who I would NEVER recommend as he just wrote it on a piece of paper and handed it to me, I asked for a breakdown of the costs, he said that is the cost and it is what it is he doesn't even give that to his auditor....(so many red flags)
I was also told $10,000 from a second surgeon (Dr. Mitchel Brown- downtown Toronto) who I would recommend for sure. I also know someone who went to him and had great results. He was also going to do some lipo to pull out some of the excess fat on the sides that might be hiding there and then just cut off the flap, pull in the sides and good to go.
As for me, my wife loves me so idc about it, bothers me sometimes but like who cares.2 -

Ha! I still had @VUA21's thread in my paste from the lipo thread and was going to drop it here, you beat me to it.
I'll drop this thread in for an inspirational read instead.

@peachezncreme, it is mainly genetics that control how much skin contracts, good nutrition and exercise may help a bit.
It can often take 2 years after hitting maintenance for it to stop contracting so give yourself some time.

I'm going to try 'foundation garments' like Spanx, and, I'm going to welcome that excess flab as a daily reminder of my previous unhealthy self.0

I've read that it actually can be covered by OHIP if you have lost over 100lbs and the skin is causing chaffing and hygiene issues. Not sure what the process is in regards to proving that weight loss and how you qualify but there is stuff online that states OHIP will help with removing excess skin.0

I will try to not point you in their direction if you are considering getting a uterus, a tummy tuck, or liposuction.
Well if you are considering a uterus I may.
