It depends on your height, weight and at what percentage you are working out at. You should get a heart rate monitor. I just got a Polar FT4 on Amazon for $60.0

So I actually can't answer your questions because I don't know but I do that buying a Heart Rate Monitor was one of the best fitness investments I've ever made. I bought mine 7 years ago (probably $100-$150) and i've had it ever since. Its on its third battery and is going strong. i wear it running, cycling, even swimming. It tracks my calories for me and I never have to guess how many calories I've burned! I'd highly recommend it because machines tend to overestimate the amount of calories you burn.0

Typically my elliptical / cross trainer machine at the gym says 200 for 20 minutes of a medium setting. Dont know how accurate that is.0

HRM is only way you're going to get an estimate for you & your personal stats. I agree - awesome investment! Just make sure you get one w/chest strap & caloric burn reading. BEST wishes!!!!0

That will depend on your Age, Weight, Height, and Lifestyle (i.e. sedentary, lightly active, etc.). Right? I use the calculator at the following URL: http://nutritiondata.self.com/tools/calories-burned0

I'm another HRM junkie...love mine!! I have a sportline duo 1010 and it's wonderful...lets me know if I'm not working out hard enough and my HR drops below my target zone...that way I know to pick it up a little bit!!0

I always see a huge difference from my HRM to what the machine says at the gym.0

When I get on the elliptical at my gym I have to enter my height, weight, age, etc and whether my intention is to lose weight or gain strenght. If you are doing all of that...how would your friend know whether it was calebrated correctly or not?0

The machines will only give you a idea of the calories you burn based on your weight, height, the infomration its asks you to input. I agree- a heart rate montior is the most accuate way to measure. Even the caloires on MFP is not really accuate.0

There are so many variables. Your age, current weight, the machines stride length, etc...
I'm 33 yo, 169 lbs and I can get in about 100 cals every 10 min going about 5 mph at a level 7 resistance.
The others are right, though, about the HRM. I bought the Polar FT7 about three months ago and it's been the best thing for my weight loss.0 -
I get about 500 calories burned at 45 minutes high intensity.
it really depends on your heart rate.0
