That's an awesome pace! But I do go with the philosophy that any pace faster than 0 is an awesomeness pace. And you ran 6.2km!

Who are you comparing yourself with? You should only compare you to you, no one else.

What's the pace, i can't see this link??

everyone sucks at running before they get better at it. Any running is hard and you should be proud of yourself.

You’re still lapping everyone on the couch! I just started running again and I know I’m slow but that’s okay, I’m only competing against myself and I can see lots of improvements in only a couple months.

Maybe you need more 20-30 minute sessions in zone 3?

    hahaha

    This is my zone 3.

The only person you ever need to compare your running to is yourself. Your pace doesn't matter, what matters is that you're getting out their and grinding. Keep up the good work!

Hey look at it this way..... even if your at the back of the pack..... your still in the pack.

Chill and enjoy. I was NEVER fast when I ran......... still loved it and I swear no Olympic Gold medalist felt better than me when I finished my first 5km!!!

All relative man...... bask in the glow of your effort! :)

For those who could not see: 3.85 miles at a 16:48 miles pace, 1:04 total time average heart rate 122. Old Dude; how does that compare with previous runs? Is this a start or a continuation? The only person with whom you should compare is your previous self. There is always someone faster, with more endurance, than you. Unless it is your livelihood to "win", progress is the goal. What are your goals? You did beat everyone who stayed on the couch. Did you enjoy the run?

This. Comparing pace to previous pace is the best way to evaluate yourself -- *as long* as you also evaluate the other factors. (Weather, illness, hills, generally feeling of crankiness, etc.)

    This is my zone 3.

Then you have your answer; continue, your zone three will get faster as you improve.

it never gets easier, you just get faster!

Haaaa there's a hard truth. I like to say I love to have run, not that I love to run.

Don't worry about it! Just enjoy it and don't bother about pace unless you're training for an event and want a time. I used to be fast but now I'm quite happy pottering along at 10/11 min miles, enjoying the scenery, listening to music and chilling.

Hmm most of your daily posts are in the 12-15 minute pace. I think you power walk faster than 16 don’t you? Most people can’t do that. Considering that you were almost dead a couple years ago, there is no reason to feel bad about your running! Just keep having fun old dude! 🤗

Yeah, i get faster paces when i do power walk/run intervals. I run faster on the run interval and i can power walk at a 14:00 to 15:00 pace.

I have been trying to do longer runs at a pace that i can hold a broken conversation in (perceived exertion) as recommended by people. For me it felt like it was right in the middle of zone 3, so i ran at a pace to maintain that heart rate and feeling.

That's why it felt pathetic, because i can power walk way faster than that.

I can do a 10:00 mile just running, but can't go much longer than a mile at that pace.

I thought I sucked at running.

    Then I tried swimming.

This just reminded me of back when i was in the army. Back then i could run 2 miles in 14 minutes. We had to swim one time to qualify for the German Fitness medal. We had to swim 200 meters and i fizzled out shortly after 100 meters. I made it the next year though because i paced myself. But it still took everything out of me.

There’s always a faster runner than all of us! Be the best runner you can be and compare you to yourself. It will get faster
