My Damn wife..

Ever have a spouse that is not supportive at all, that seems to not even care about trying to eat right?

well, I have experienced that in the past with other people too, but I just want to say how simply amazing it is to have a wife that loves me, supports me and is a diet and exercise MACHINE.

she is up and on the way to the gym at 4:30am every day, she makes eating right easy (and fun) pats me on the back on good days, and encourages me on the bad days. I just wanted to share how happy I am to share my life with someone so amazing. I do hope that I give her the support and encouragement she needs to, and that she feels the joy and Love that I feel for her.

we can all be positive influences to others, and perhaps share what we have learned. I have shared my experiences when people ask, but try to not become a one dimensional person that ONLY talks about diet/exercise non-stop. If I know someone is fighting the same battles that I have, I try to support and encourage (but not give excuses). I know some people just do not want to hear it, but loosing (or gaining) weight is very simple.. eat sensible meals, avoid junk, avoid calorie containing beverages, track your calories, and get your butt off the couch and get in gear. simple steps anyone can follow, but some are just not ready to hear it will take some work at this point in their lives.

anyway. dont want to be preachy, just wanted to express my deep respect and love for my wife.

I think I might have to hurt my husband if we woke up at 4:30am every day.

Just because he told us doesn't mean he doesn't tell her too.... from the sound of it, he probably tells her everyday!!! It's great to see a couple working so well together!! Wish the both of you the best!!! (=

It's great. When I first started this whole thing my wife had just given birth to our second. Naturally she was a little jealous of my losses. Before long she was right there with me though and together we've lost 98lbs or so.

My husband is supportive of me, but he is overweight with not intention of losing it or exercising. He makes it very difficult for me to stay on track when he orders pizza, or brings yummy treats or chips into the house. I try to encourage him to exercise and healthy with me, but he just finds excuses all the time. I hope that one day the light bulb will go off in his head and I can support him the same way he has for me.

You are very lucky to have a wife who supports and joins you on this journey. You are very lucky and I'm happy you know it :)

This is very refreshing to read on a few levels. One, you're very lucky and blessed to have such a supportive spouse, I've read far too many posts here where one was on a road to getting healthier and the other is either not supportive or not interested in doing the same.

Two, I see SO many married people on these threads that are constantly flirting with others...not just little harmless flirts or complements, but pretty hard core stuff. I often wonder what their other halves would think if they could read some of it. It's nice to see a someone write words of praise regarding their wonderful relationship.

Well ladies and gents, I'm the lucky one! Mike is an amazing man. Treats me with love and respect, has a great sense of humor, a heart of gold and boy can he cook! Bottom line is that we are one... we are in this together. It's not about how we look (that's a plus) it's getting and staying healthy so we can enjoy our golden years. Mike is by far the best man I have ever known and I'm so thankful to God for bringing him into my life! I pray that all of you have that! Peace! Janie

I completely agree! With a previous boyfriend, during my relationship with him I became more and more depressed, ate junk food all the time (didn't help that his idea of eating out was McDonalds), lazed around as much as possible, could barely get out of bed some mornings... it was bad! I started changing from the inside and part of that was dumping him and finding a real man. With my hero, I'm in a gym for the first time ever, eating well, have been off "happy pills" for over a month (no more anti-depressants needed!), and feel stronger every single day. It makes a world of difference!
