Still feel fat at size 6

3 years ago I was a size 20. This past year I finally got over my plateau and today I can fit into most size 6 and even some 4’s at 145 pounds, I am 5’7. I still feel like I’m fat or thick. It’s crazy how the mind plays tricks on you.

It is crazy!! I Lost a bunch of weight several years ago. It felt so weird to be small. It didn't change how I felt on the inside as a fat girl even though on the outside I was half my size.
I was fat for 18 years. I guess it takes longer than a few months to get used to it.
You should be so proud of yourself!!! That takes a lot of hard work and dedication8 -
I get it and feel the same. Look at before and after pictures and you will realize the difference.9

That’s awesome for everyone’s success, good job y’all. I’m glad I got to see another view, one who use to be skinny, now has muscle, has a process to struggle with too. ❤️5

It takes time. I spent a very large portion of my life feeling fat, and a couple of years of being thin isn't going to undo 40 years of feeling that way.
Some days, I feel like I'm coming around on the issue, and others? I still feel fat.
I started in a tight size 18 verging into a 20 and am now a size 2-4.11 -
And others around us aren’t used to it. Good job on your success ❤️2

It does appear for many of us that it takes our brain much longer to catch up with our body when it comes to weight loss. I guess the same could be said when we gain weight though, but I always put that one down to denial but maybe there is more to it than that.2

It's a struggle. Sometimes I still feel fat and other times I feel incredibly fit.3

I try not to focus too much on the size written on the label, since it can vary so much from one maker to another.
A good buddy once said to me:
THere are two kinds of clothes; those that fit you, and those you can fit into.5 -

I lost 125 pounds in 2012. I am just now getting to the point where I don't feel fat. It takes awhile for the mind to catch up.7

Yep, I have been at 160 for two months. My peak was 250. 44” pants and now 34” falls off me without a belt. And my brain still feels fat, except when I workout or look in the mirror. We’ll get used to it!

Try on a size 20 now. It will help you appreciate how much progress you’ve made.20

Good idea. I got rid of all my bigger sizes a long time ago 😀0

I know what you mean I consistently fit S or S, but when I look at those clothes on the rack I am going no way - Same with sewing but now finding that quite a few patterns even at 36 are too big!1

I kept one pair so I could do this.
I still feel fat sometimes, though

It's such a shame we can't see ourselves the way other people do...
I look at clothes sometimes when I'm doing the washing and think 'do I really fit in that?!'11 -
I'm a size 4 and feel fat constantly. Loose skin flapping around doesn't help me feel better, but it is what it is. I only see the difference in pictures, so I take plenty. I'm also noticing that last year's M and L coats are too big, so that's something.
It does take time to catch up mentally, but try comparing pictures. It can make things more real.4 -
I went from a tight 12 to a 4, and I swear I don’t see much of a change. I still focus in on the areas where I’m too heavy. It’s so strange-i know the change has taken place but I still can’t fully wrap my mind around it.9

OP, a comfort is that at least others see it. Hopefully we will catch up.
I just told my husband what I posted (after I asked him if my upper thighs look too large for the shorter sweater I’m wearing) and he just rolled his eyes. lol4 -

Yep, I had to buy some new winter coats, flannels and long sleeves. I pulled some of my favorite old ones out of the closet yesterday to try on. I could fit two of me in them. Size medium coats I bought are a bit big but the XL's I had are huge. I now have more room in my closest, away they went...1
