Ovulation

I am a couple days away from ovulating... according to my app. I woke up today feeling bloated. I’ve gained inches and gained 5 pounds since I weighed on Monday. Diet hasn’t changed. What’s the deal???

Yeah, that's why I only weight the week after my cycle has started. I get massively impacted by hormonal changes, so only weighing once a month helps me to not worry about those variations as much. At least it's water weight and not actual gain.0

Yup. I always gained with ovulation, then it went down, then I gained again with my period. Water.2

You said it yourself - you're bloated. It's water. Your water weight will go up and down throughout the month based on your cycle, your exercise, sodium or alcohol, etc. It's just the way the human body works.1

But 5 pounds? In a day?0

if it was fat you'd have had to have eaten 17,500 calories over maintenance since Monday... i think you would have noticed that!!!4 -
True. But I hate that it keeps going up and down and I didn’t know a few days BEFORE ovulation it would go up that much.0

up and down is completely normal... don't weigh yourself as often if it bothers you.1 -
For me, ovulation is just as bad as my period.1

That seems to be the case for me too. Glad it’s that and is easily removed in a few days0 -
I gain and am bloated more during ovulation than my period sometimes0

I guess I never really thought about this before because I was only weighing myself once a month. But I weigh like once or twice a week now sometimes more and it was so discouraging0

Try a trend weight app like happy scale or Libra2 -
Is this the first time you've been bloated before you ovulate?0
-
No maybe the 3rd time that I’ve noticed. Now my weight is down 3 pounds but still 2 pounds higher than it was before. Is that normal?1

This article has great info about water weight, OP.

Yes it’s normal. I suggest you weigh daily and track your trends so you can learn how your body cycles. It’s great to use an app line Happy Scale or Libra which will even out the ups and downs.mollybethjack wrote: »No maybe the 3rd time that I’ve noticed.
