Weight Fluctuations - Help?

Hey MFP community! I’m feeling down on myself and would love to get the opinions of those who know much more about weight loss than I do.
I just spent the last few days in New York City. I averaged around 25,000 steps and 20 flights of stairs climbed (according to my Apple Watch) on both days. I didn’t even think about food because I was so busy exploring the city and meeting up with friends. I didn’t track my calories for those days because I wanted to focus on my trip and friends instead of food. I’m sure I ate over my calorie limit but I didn’t overeat or binge eat because I just wasn’t that hungry (we got pizza and I bought two slices and ate only one, and we forgot to get dinner the night we went to see a musical because we were too excited about the musical).
I weigh four pounds more (189) now than I did when I left for the city on Monday (185). I’m just confused on how I can triple my physical activity, eat foods I always tend to eat but less of them, and gain weight?? The logical part of me assumes it’s just water retention or something but I am definitely beating myself up a bit.
Thanks for listening.

Did you fly or take a long road trip? Both can cause water retention. Go back to you usual routine, and give it a few days. Even if you did gain, did you enjoy the trip?1

I took a train that averaged 7-8 hours. I would’ve never thought that would have anything to do with it. Is it because of the sitting and limited moving??
But YES I absolutely loved the trip! I would do it over and over again even if it means I’ll gain a ton of weight haha.0 -

It could be part of it. I have gained up to 15lbs with flying. I didn't weigh before and after my train trips, but the food you ate along the way was probably higher sodium as well. I would give it a few more days.0 -
It sounds like you had a great time, so that's well worth it.0

typically eating out while traveling is going to be higher sodium options - so that could contribute to weight fluctuations0

It could be the address sodium from foods your are. It could moving less on the train. It could be from moving more while on your trip. There is a possibility that some of it is fat, but there's a good chance that some of it is water. Give yourself a couple days to a week to get back into the swing of things and let your body get rid of any extra water you're caring and then reevaluate. And heck, even if your actually four pounds up, in the grand scheme of things that's not too bad. And you got to enjoy what sounds like an awesome trip!0
