Ectomorph body type measurements

Hello.
I am currently taking a fitness instructor course and i have to create a personalized training routine for an ectomorph body type person. As i don't have anybody to ask for this, i hope that somebody from this beautiful community would be so kind to provide me his body stats (if it is not too personal).
So, i need measurements of arms, chest, navel and 2" above navel, glutes, thighs and calves and some general info such as age, weight and height.
Thanks and i hope i will help you back in a way.

I mean, it's a subjective value judgement based on visual cues and shapes without any real measurement parameters - so couldn't you just use general guidelines for lean people? I don't think a particular set of body measurement would be all that helpful would it? People are different heights so wouldn't that affect measurements?
Good luck. I hope someone steps up, but if they don't...6 -

The what now?9 -
Because this system of classifying body types has been thoroughly debunked, I would question exactly what kind of information I was being taught in the class.22

^^^ THIS. Unless your professor rides to class on unicorn & you are going to dissect mermaids next semester, you should absolutely reconsider the time and money you're spending on this course.11 -
The idea is not to determine a person's body type based on measurements. I have to do an anamnesis (fitness assessment) like i would do it in real life on a client. And that's why i would have liked to use real body measurements and not to invent some
I suppose i will look up for a measurement tape and a thin person who i can use it on. But still maybe somebody would be kind...0 -
Ok. I suppose this has been misunderstood and i didnt want to create spam with my request. Maybe i shouldnt have posted this here.
Thank you and have a nice weekend.1 -
Shouldn’t you be basing a plan on their goals vs a debunked theory of body types?11

What posters are trying to tell you is that somatypes have been thoroughly debunked as not a thing, and you should seriously question the usefulness of the training you are paying for. It's out of concern for you.
Seriously, if I was interviewing a prospective trainer and they mentioned somatypes , I would immediately cross them off the list as someone working with outdated info.13 -
I was going to type what kim said but figured you didnt want people telling you that you were wasting money being trained on lies and garbage that has been scientifically disproven.
You will figure it out someday im sure.5 -
deannalfisher wrote: »Shouldn’t you be basing a plan on their goals vs a debunked theory of body types?
Of course yes, their goal and actual fitness status (experience, body composition etc) are the mainly concerns when setting up a plan. The purpose of my request was to find out how some data of an actual thin person (i see you dont like the word ectomorph) would look. I would never judge or prescribe something to a person based on the old somatotype paradigm, no way.
This is why i've said that my post may have been misunderstood.
^I don't look up to fool myself. This thing with somatotypes it's just a small chapter from the theoretical part of the course. Nobody has mentioned nothing about this in the practical part, which is a good thing.
Now i really do hope that i made things at least a bit clearer regarding this topic. I really do make my research and i dont take anything for granted.

So, Leonardo DiCapprio is kind of ectomorph-y, right? 6'0", 75kg, and according to this his measurements are: chest is 42 inches, his waist is 35 inches and his biceps are 14 inches.
Close enough?
Bow Wow is 5'7" 65kg, and this: His chest measures 38 inches, his waist is 30 inches and his biceps are 12 inches.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 5'9" 70kg, Chest – 40 in or 102 cm, Arms / Biceps – 15 in or 38 cm, Waist – 32 in or 81 cm - from this site.2 -
Thank your very much because you took from your time to search for this. I still do hope that i didnt seem like an ignorant, because i'm not. I will commit to learn and to do a good job.
Have a nice weekend again.5 -
the thing with somatype is it was designed to characterize a persons personality based on their body type. it has nothing to do with fitness or anything else pertaining to fitness.someone just took that idea and made it to make money off of. because if you take somatypes and base it on fitness many people will fit into more than one of the categories, heck if they were a thing I fit into all 3,as I have some characterisitics of all 3. why is this even being covered in the course? they really are behind on the times for sure if thats part of the curriculum2

Why don't you use the SEARCH feature and type Ectomorph . You will find many members who describe themselves as ectomorphs, despite the concept being debunked. Add them as friend, mention their forum post describing themselves as ectomorphs, and invite them to answer your individualised measurement requirements. A general forum call out is unwise.

Why it is unwise, exactly? A general post where someone can choose to respond if they want to seems far less creepy than someone sending a friend request or PM because they read about someone's body and want to know their measurements.7 -

not to mention many people would think it creepy to get a PM asking for those things. I know I would.7 -

People who sign up on MFP thinking to use Somatypes are often lambasted on these boards . Fact. How different is it to being attacked on these forums by absolute strangers, who don't choose to 'Play nice"? Some of these believers get struck out upon entry.
If it is a genuine course study @OP, he would have the proper paperwork to show the prospective ectomorph from his academic institution that his query is indeed genuine and have that person opt in, if they so choose VS chiming in on this thread with their details as he'd suggested, and get mistreated like an idiot for their belief in somatype taxonomy from the 40s.
**this thread is spiraling akin to the take fiber = retain breast tissue /Kadashian thread.11 -
@sabredanny
Have you tried Googling Somatype support groups? Specifically, ectomorphs? Those would be more helpful in order for you to complete coursework than these boards.2 -

I would certainly find it creepy AF.
@sabredanny Am I reading you as meaning that within one of the texts you are using, somatotypes were discussed, but the terminology is not something used by people teaching in the program? Bet you didn't anticipate stepping on that landmine here. :ohwell: Hopefully, you've chosen to go with some of the information @cmriverside shared.1 -

With good reason, They arent real, have been debunked by science AND one of the biggest problems in the weight loss and fitness industry is the constant perpetuation of falsehoods, untruths and outright lies.
These are peoples lives that are being toyed with.

Totally ignoring the discussion of body types for the moment -- if you're supposed to be emulating a "real life" fitness assessment, shouldn't you be doing the measuring on a real human being, rather than asking someone to take their own measurements and give them to you over the internet? Is the program supposed to be preparing you to be some kind of virtual, Internet-only fitness instructor?4 -

For his purpose. Defeatist.
He made a post asking if anyone wanted to help him out - no one was forced to click on it or respond to it. By making a post, he gets to interact with people who are currently active on the forums. If you use the search feature, you get a ton of results back, many of those posts by people who are no longer active on the forums or on MFP. So it seems like reaching out to people who are active and giving the option to respond to his inquiry makes more sense, and is, again, less creepy.
Yes, he used the word "ectomorph", but so what? Whether or not somatotypes have been debunked has absolutely nothing to do with what he was asking, which was if someone would be willing to provide measurements. It's a term people know, in common use, that gets his point across about the body type he needs to work from for the project. If all someone is focusing on is the use of "ectomorph," they've completely missed the point of the post, and that's not the OP's fault. It seems like he already got some data to work from upthread anyway, so whether or not he is doing it "right" is a moot point.8 -
Ok. This thread has generated more replies than i would have anticipated. Unfortunately, most of them criticizing me for using the ectomorph word. But that's ok. I'm not a snowflake, i know how the internet works.777Gemma888 wrote: »

I did that with no luck. Many results, no data i was looking for. It was my choice to create this thread, to openly ask for this kind of information. I am aware that my request was a bit weird and maybe too intimate, but i assume all the output it has generated.
Have a beautiful sunday.5 -

An online support group might be your best bet then to complete your coursework.
Good luck!1
