I use it for muscle soreness sometimes and it works well for me.1

Reducing inflation with drugs will hinder recovery. The soreness increases blood flow and aides in recovery. Drugs should only be used for severe cases. If drugs are required then you probably pushed too hard. Stretching and massage are far more beneficial. Just my two cents worth($10 with inflation) :-) Look up foods that reduce inflammation naturally, watermelon, tart cherries and sweet potatoes are a few.14

Yes, it's a NSAID, so it will work.2

NSAIDS are horrible for healing/ recovery from an injury. inflammation is the bodys natural response to injury. also, you increase your chances of furthering injury due to the fact youre masking the pain. its not going to "sort" out anything...its an anti inflammatory, not a treatment. also, sure you can take it for doms.....but like I said...the inflammation is there for a purpose. honestly, your general NSAIDS are stupid to take if you don't absolutely need them. they don't do anything but maybe mask the pain for a little...9

Try some magnesium gel a walk and extra water.1

Personally prefer Ibuprofen vs. Naproxen...ibuprofen - shorted half life (in-and out faster is usually my personal preference for acute stuff), side effect profile ~1/3 the %s of typical NSAID side effects (edema, less blood perfusion to kidneys (prostaglandin do have essential physiologic functions), GI upset/ulceration (mitigate with food and antacids/proton pump inhibitors for long term use), bleed risk, etc.).
Naproxen on the other hand is longer lasting (8-12 hours) & has to be dosed less frequently (twice/day vs. 3-4X/day with ibuprofen). Generally the preferred NSAID for Chronic use (key word) for those with cardiovascular diseases (higher COX1/COX2 ratio similar to Aspirin but also means it's generally has more GI upset vs. Ibuprofen, Celecoxib, Meloxicam, Nabumetone - those are higher COX2/COX1 ratio NSAIDs)
Nothing wrong with SHORT term use (<7 days); yes, bros are partially correct that NSAIDs are detrimental to building muscle (that's with chronic use though). NSAIDs have a threshold (dose limiting) for analgesia; they will not necessarily mask pain completely (unlike opiates where the dose can be pushed higher with response to analgesia). The medium dose range for NSAIDs is generally where you will get the most bang for your buck without being excessive (Naproxen 440-660mg/day - OTC version, Ibuprofen 1,200-1,600mg/day for an adult dosing)5 -

Sounds like a lat strain?
I had one a few months ago and it took six weeks (about) to heal. I took NSAIDs sparingly and did a lot of roller work on the floor.
Apparently six to eight weeks healing time is typical according to Dr Google.

I usually stretch after my workout, then ice whatever feels sore. If I'm sore another day, then I'll do heating pad and more stretching. I only take ibuprofen (but naproxen is ok for others) if the soreness keeps me from normal daily activities.0
