Major Hip Dips?

So I have some pretty major Hip dips. I know that everyone has them but mine are very noticeable and I’m pretty self conscious about it. The more weight I love the more I notice it and even back when I was very skinny and at a healthy bmi I had them.
Has any body had success at minimizing them?

Hip dips are genetic, and sometimes weight loss can minimize their appearance (it does for me) and you can build up areas with muscle (under the right conditions) but unfortunately you cannot change your bone structure.8

Totally get I can’t change my bone structure just wanted to see if there’s something I could do to minimize1

I’m the opposite. Weight loss makes mine more noticeable. That said it doesn’t bother me.
Sorry, OP. I don’t have any clue how to minimize the appearance.4 -
I have all kinds of hips everywhere, and I've found their appearance improved when I started working out to build overall strength. Nothing special, just more muscle making a better foundation.4

You can always build muscles in that area, but like you said there's no changing bone structure.0

Ditto. Mine are more prominent when I’m lightest, so I remind myself that being able to see them means that the gap-filling fat is gone.1 -
I just did a quick google there and they sell like, "chicken fillets" you can put in your pants to fill in your hip dips. MY GOD
I was actually googling to check I was right about the glute medius and minimus, they are not in your hip dips but close to it so working on those (abductions, lunges etc) and some general booty building might change the overall shape of the area if you manage any muscle growth. Obvs results will vary but I do have some muscle in that area and I guess it couldn't hurt.
I quite like mine tbh, I didn't even know they had a name until about 6 months ago. I guess I missed the memo that they were a thing you were supposed to want to minimise. I think it's cool you can see how your little skeleton jigsaw is put together.18 -

Man, that just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? /s
Instagram can be a real hot mess for people hyper-focused on their body.4 -
I do. I think they look pretty "major" but they don't bother me.0

Didn’t say you should be self conscious about them, I just said I am about mine.
But thanks for the advice4 -
Not to be too forward but are your underwear/pants too tight?
General weight loss and wearing underwear that were ACTUALLY my size (not trying to fit size S/M on a L butt) made my hip dips go away. That was about a 20lb loss from 170ish lb. I'm sure it was mostly the weight loss but I feel like it probably helped not wearing clothes that were too tight all day every day.6 -
Ok, I had to google this. Didn't know it was a thing. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/07/05/what-hip-dips/450943001/
That reminds me, I heard about "thigh gap" when I was a teenager, then never again for decades until I heard about it again here.

The list of body configurations that are a "thing" just keeps getting longer...4

I have them and didn't even know! I learned something new today!3
-
Surely its a genetic thing? Had to google images of hip dips! - I don't have them, didn't even when I was heavier. (love handles were/still are my issue, everyone has their hang ups right?)

Oh and OP, see this woman they're holding up here with her perfect booty and toblerone tunnel (lolol) - see the way she has her hands on her hips just so? Guess who has hips shaped like hips? She do! Look at all the models in fashion photography when shopping online and you'll see side on, angled, booty out, all kinds of poses except straight on because hip dips are a thing because of your skeleton and musculature but it's another silly quirky standard we're all pretending we can achieve.6 -

ugh and 21% of people who clicked on it thought it was soooo cool. have learned nothing?

Had no idea what they were, really. Googled. They are based on bone structure. If someone had excess fat, losing weight might help (can't spot reduce). But it's mostly genetics. Found this helpful USA Today article.
I only discovered it was a thing a year or 2 ago and of course it happened to be here on the forums. I had never thought it to be an issue. Just the shape of my hips and how my body stores fat.0 -

I don't know, but from how people speak about their bodies, I'd pretty much guarantee that body negativity is still being taught in the hallways, just like it was when I was in school a million years ago.
I had hoped that the consequences of of Title 9 (in the US) would help put some emphasis on function, not just appearance, but that was probably wishful thinking.
All these terms for body characteristics, most seemingly just designed to let us name and hate on our body parts, the better to sell us stuff (if only clicks to ad-laden "fitness" sites). Ugh.8
