How Far Can You Run?

13.1 miles (half marathon). Ran without stopping for 2hrs 25mins.3

I have done a couple of half marathon runs and one trail HM which I found much harder. I will never do a trail run again until I get contacts or glasses without bifocals because the ground is very blurry. I had my sights on doing a full marathon this year but I popped something in my ankle in a low speed fall so that ended skiing for the season. I also ended running for months. I am getting back into it and just this morning ran 6 miles with no fatigue. I have switched to LCHF and have become fat adapted. I am looking forward to testing this WOE on a HM and if all goes well commit to a full marathon. I doubt I have an ultra in my future.3

Forgot to mention that when i did that 10 mile run in the army, that was back in the 1980's, and i was in my early 30's.
I'm 61 now, and when i started running about a year ago, i could only run for about 30 seconds without stopping. It took me almost a year to get to 5 miles at a snail's pace. In fact i think a snail passed me one time at the park...
But in my defense, it looked like a really fast snail.
I bet that army run wasn't in fancy lightweight running shoes with lightweight moisture wicking clothing either.4 -
Depends from whom or what....3

we wore gym shorts and running shoes for PT.
But one day we had a 10k forced road march in full combat gear, with a 70 lb. pack and weapon. I ran the whole way at a walking pace to set the example for my squad, and it gave them no excuse to fall behind even a little.2 -
5K. In long sleeves and a skirt. (Won my age/sex division, too.)6

A half-marathon that helped me learn I don't like running that much distance...7

Depends on how far the person chasing me can run!1

Ya think?!? But I might get all bulky. Ew. :laugh:2 -
18 miles so far, wanted to go further but sticking with the marathon training plan! Can’t wait to run the full distance5
-
I finished a 300 miles adventure race with about 60% of that on foot.5

Half Marathon... well I actually did 14.2 when training for my second half, I had a little extra that one day.
I wish I had the desire to run a whole one, if I was a bit younger I might could be talked into it.2 -
3 miles and I wouldn't classify myself as a runner at all. Just do it periodically for a change in routine.2
-
Did 7.2 the other day2
-
One mile. And I think I’m good with that. You all are incredible!3

I ran the US Air Force Half Marathon many years ago. I have no desire to do a full, I can't even imagine running for over 4 hours. I like 5k races. I can run many each year and it doesn't take all my time to train.1
-
15 miles is what I normally train up to for half marathon distance.
Just started training for my first ever full.
I don't know if my body will let me but I'm going to try.2 -
13.1. I'm limited more by time/boredom than physical endurance. Two hours seems to be my limit and even that requires a race environment. When running on my own 90 minutes tends to be the most I can do before getting too bored to continue.2

One day when i was in the army, the commander had a wild hair up his *kitten* for some reason and made us run 10 miles that morning. We only ever ran 4 or 6 miles in that unit, and about 2 thirds of the soldiers did not make that distance. I was one of the ones who made it (barely), so 10 miles is the furthest i have ever run non stop.
I recently took up running (i guess close to a year now), and have worked my way up to 5 miles so far.
I am in awe of people that run ultra marathons, and even marathons & half marathons.
What is the longest distance you have ever run?
Without stopping (walk intervals were always part of the plan), 26.2miles
Without walking 13.1miles

7 miles, after I got my second wind, I didn't wan't to stop. (This was years ago, before I gained this weight).

My current longest distance is 15 miles. Training for a full marathon in March of next year.2
-
I've run marathons, but I'm not sure how to count those since you specify "without stopping" and I stop at water stations (I can't drink and run at the same time so I have to walk briefly).3
-
What's chasing me?... never mind I still wouldn't run. I can walk a lot though.1
-
16 miles is the farthest I’ve run so far.
I enjoy 15k’s and half’s for the most part although it would be cool to train for a full at some point.2 -
10k (so just over 6 miles). My aim for 2019 is to double that!2
-
My sister and I have run 27 miles, 50/50 both directions, at least once a month in the early mornings. It's less taxing during colder months and with less traffic. We need to work following am runs, so running to exhaustion/failure isn't the aim.2
