Hi Everyone! For the past couple of years I’ve been been flying high with weight loss, fitness and general health but a couple of months ago I tore my rotator cuff and have been in a major slump. I can’t work out like I have been and need some tips for working out with an injury and general motivation to help get back on track!!

Have you done PT? If not, I’d start there.
Your slump- I injured my foot. But then I noticed the injury to my foot was taking over my head. I had to make myself get off the couch.
Look on YouTube. There’s more than one way to train. Plus, there’s probably a lot of YouTube stuff about working around your specific problem. But you need to keep doing research until you can put together a plan where you can look at yourself in the mirror and say it’s a workout.
If you don’t focus on finding a new way, you’re just stuck being bummed over what you lost. If it’s any consolation, you aren’t alone. The mind issue seems to be a common problem with disrupted exercise programs. Good luck.1 -
Thanks so much. Yeah I’ve been in PT and have made a ton of progress. I had a good workout today and am feeling a bit more positive. Thanks for the support!2

Wonder if there would be interest in creating a post-injury support subgroup? I've been dealing with an ugly series of car accidents, and I'm so deconditioned it's incredibly hard to keep my spirits up. I think that would be a great use of the site. I wonder if there are enough injured people here?1

@IHateMyThyroid I think that’s a great idea. It would be nice if it was a positive progress thread. I sometimes feel like my shoulder is going to hurt forever and I need to remember there are other people who are going through the same thing and those that have come out the other side.0
