Does anyone who might take Adderall notice a difference between the name brand and generic?

I have never taken adderall, but most of the time with drugs they are the exact same thing, only the generic brand can make it cheaper and don't buy advertising. Check out the labels of both or ask a pharmacy.0

there is no difference between brand and generic. they are made by the company, in the same factory, and even have the same ingredients. Also even look exactly the same except for the stamping.0

I think in general they are the same, usually the name of the original that costs so much, but I imagine there must be a difference somewhere, because often doctors will put on the prescriptions not to use the generic brand. So you should discuss it with your doc.0

No difference except the price! Generic is the way to go!0

Sometimes, there IS a difference between name brand and generic meds. The "medicine" part has to be the same, but the "fillers" do not. I would talk to a medical professional and see IF there's a difference in this case and if so, will that difference have an impact for you.0

You should ask your doctor and pharmacist. Generally, for most people, generic and brand name drugs will not matter. But, there ARE some differences...different dyes, fillers, etc used in generics. For example, I know someone on an anti-seizure medication and she was fine on generics. But then the pharmacy gave her the generic by a different manufacturer and she had tons of seizures. So she has to avoid that manufacturer.0

That's not exactly accurate. The meds definitely do not have to look the same. It depends on the manufacturer.
I take generic Adderall and dependent on which pharmacy I fill my script at I will get two different looking pills. (shape, color and markings)
One manufacturer uses orange dyes and an oval shape, the other uses pink dye and a round shape. Same prescription, same strength, just different manufacturers.
Also, I wouldn't think that generic and brand adderall are mad in the same factory. The generics have multiple manufacturers, so I know they can't ALL be in the same factory.....
They also don't have the exact same ingredients, as mentioned earlier, even the dyes are different.0 -

This is exactly what I was going to say. I learned it in pharmaceutical class when I went to school to be a CMA. Check with your doctor to make sure you can take the generic (which most of the time is fine) since it is cheaper.0 -

This is not accurate. They are SOMETIMES made in the same factory; not always. They rarely look the same. The fillers and colorings vary greatly. This link is from the FDA website and it details information about generics. It has been my experience though that as far as generic adderall, it works as well as brand. My son has taken both for the last 2 years and I have never noticed a difference.

Also other companies do make them, the generic comes a long when the patent for a med runs out, and then it's free for others to "copy". I was told about this by my psych doctor anyways.there is no difference between brand and generic. they are made by the company, in the same factory, and even have the same ingredients.
