I'm afraid to eat over 1200 calories.

Hello, everyone. This is my first post but I've been lurking. In January 2018, I began this weightloss journey. Weightloss was not my only goal, but I wanted to be healthier physically and mentally as well. I joined weight watchers, lost a bunch, plateaued for months. I joined Myfitnesspal and picked up an Intermint Fasting lifestyle a couple of months ago. I started losing weight again, very noticeably in my stomach/hips. I was so happy. So here I am now. Only losing like 3 pounds a month. I still have 30 pounds I want to lose (more if I can but realistically 30 is my goal) and I dont know why it is going so slow now. I'd understand if I were closer to goal, but I am still 200 pounds even. I weighed 265 in January.

I have been eating 1250-1290 calories daily for the past couple of months. Most days not even that. But after reading through some posts here, I adjusted my goals on the app and it is giving me a 1500 ish calorie goal. I feel like eating more is not the answer, yet I know that science says eating too less is just as damaging.

Sorry for the long winded post but has anyone gone through this and what were your results. I realize everyone is different. Just looking for some support.

Thank you!

Are you using a food scale? Are you double checking that the database entries you are choosing have accurate calories? Are you logging accurately and consistently every day?

If not, you are probably eating more calories than you think. Its really common, logging is a skill and requires practice and sometimes some re-education. Tighten up your logging so you can get some accurate data.

If you are accurately eating @ 1200 cals, you might need to take a diet break to balance out your hormones. I can't link on my phone, but search a thread called "Of refeeds and diet breaks". The other possibility is a medical condition, so getting a physical and some blood work wouldn't be a bad idea either.

3 pounds a month is a great rate of loss when you only have 30 pounds left to lose. Are you using a trending app like Happy Scale (for iphone)?

However, you are correct that you should be losing faster if you are truly eating <1300 calories per day. There are mistakes that people commonly make that cause them to struggle to lose weight that we might be able to spot if you change your Diary Sharing settings to Public: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
