Anyone take a tablespoon of coconut a day and obtained weigh loss or other benefits?

No weight loss benefits from eating coconut oil. If you maintain a calorie deficit over time you will lose weight, with or without coconut oil.12

Weight loss comes from a calorie deficit. There are no superfoods and, barring surgery (including amputation), no shortcuts. For most of the population, coconut oil is pretty neutral. If you like using it, go ahead. BUT for those people who need to monitor their cholesterol, it appears to be bad news according to https://www.pritikin.com/your-health/healthy-living/eating-right/1790-is-coconut-oil-bad-for-you.html.
(Note: eating high-cholesterol foods doesn't cause high blood cholesterol, but for those who already have it, cutting back is generally recommended.)9 -
I do not take a tbs of coconut oil a day - or ever,for that matter.
Like all so called superfoods: eat it if you like it, don't if you don't.
Log the calories like you would for any other food.6 -
That's 120 cal I could use for something pleasurable, so no. I do sometimes cook with coconut oil, but usually more like a tsp.12

I do use coconut oil every day. Fat is satiating and feeling full from just 120 calories helps keep me from eating higher calorie and/or higher carb foods. It is healthy and it also really works for weight loss.
Like the others have stated, you must stay in a deficit to lose weight. Coconut oil will just help you to do that without overbearing hunger or cravings. And when you eat less (due to less hunger), you will take in less calories and carbs than you use and you will lose weight, of course.
Just make sure you always stay in that deficit by always logging all your foods including the coconut oil (or the bulletproof coffee).16 -
Oil isn't satiating to me at all. But if it works for you, great. I simply don't actually believe it's some magical weight loss or appetite suppressant, as it gets sold. Bulletproof coffee tends to have as many or more calories than many extremely filling breakfasts that involve food, and for me just skipping breakfast and having more cals for later would be preferable if I didn't want food in the morning. If OP tries it and find she loves the taste or it fills her up more than an egg and veg (which would have the same cals), cool.
I could use a tsp or none vs. a tbsp and feel exactly as full. I am not at all low fat (I like eating foods containing fat like eggs and nuts and cheese and chicken with skin and avocado and find including fat in my diet helps me feel satiated), but just a tbsp of coconut oil would do exactly nothing for me. Nor does adding a bunch of extra cals from salad dressing, although mine more often than not include some olive oil as well as vinegar. (I also find low fat dairy, like greek yogurt and cottage cheese, which I enjoy as much or more than the lower fat versions, is just as satiating for me. I know others find this is not the case.)5 -
It does nothing for weight loss ..... it can be part of your diet if you want to waste your calories that way5

When you say "take" do people say you should straight up eat a tablespoon of coconut oil, or are you mixing it with something? I get it in my head that people are sticking coconut oil in a shot glass and slurping it out a la jello shots.
Either way, I'd rather eat something else that keeps me full longer. A couple of eggs comes to mind. I'm short, so I only have so many calories. Gotta make it worth it.4 -

I eat a half T (7 g) each day because that's what I use to cook my eggs. But no individual food item is going to cause you to lose fat faster.1

I cook with coconut oil because it's delicious. It's just oil though, it isn't going to do anything special for you. If you like spending 120 calories on it, then go for it.0

Yeah,if you like it use it,a few years ago they kept hyping coconut oil as some kind of "cure all" I doubt it has healing properties like they were trying to claim1

I think it was showing signs of being able to benefit Alzheimer's patients (although maybe that's been debunked), but I don't think it will help with weight loss unless it satiates you so much that you eat less.2

I have lost 32lbs without ever using/tasting coconut oil.
But I do eat within my calorie goal (mostly) That seems to be the "one secret trick" that works for everyone.

I eat a little coconut oil frequently as part of my weight management regimen . . . in the form of utterly fabulous, locally-made, mouth-melting chocolates. They're hypoallergenic and organic, but I don't really care: They're 80 calories of pure indulgent deliciousness. Other than that, I just use coconut oil occasionally in baking.
There's nothing magic about it, and it's high in calories, like all fats. Nuts or seeds might be a better choice, for healthy fats, because we do need to eat fats. MUFAs and PUFAs seem to have a good track record, research-wise.1 -

I think that's about it. The MCTs in coconut oil will raise ketones which can be beneficiL to some neurological and cognitive diseases or problems.
For weight loss, it's only beneficiL if it helps with satiation.... Or diarrhea if you take too much too fast.2 -
I take a couple of tablespoons maybe once a week when I pop popcorn. It is the best oil for popping up really light, tender kernels.3

That's disgusting. Why would I drink oil? Gross. I'd rather take the 120 calories and eat a large apple instead.2
