This thread is for anyone who rides a bicycle ... or unicycle, tricycle, tandem, etc.

Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? So you ride weekends? Do you spin at home or in the gym? Is Zwift your thing? Do you race crits, ironman, or centuries? Or, are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? However you choose to push your pedal, you are welcome on this thread.

There's no set challenge across participants - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group. Just pick your own target that you want to achieve this month, post that when you join the thread, and post updates throughout the month as you're working towards your target.

    Poor weather last week meant I only did 4 miles outdoor riding (to the gym!) but did 72 "miles" on the Wattbike and training is going well. Not sure how well as my bike randomly stopped halfway through a FTP test - frustrating as I was getting confident of a good result.

    Have found that using my best saddle on the Wattbike has reduced discomfort from painful to merely uncomfortable.

    My fellow MFP cyclists, I return! It was not a very good cycling year for me. I've always gotten most of my miles in from commuting, but life changes (aka taking the train to work more often with my significant other rather than biking in) really cut into my bike time. Currently at 1859 miles per year.

    I signed up for my first half next June, so I need to at least pretend to train. I treated myself to a wahoo kickr core, so I'm hoping to get lots of saddle time in this winter. I have 4 rides scheduled per week, hoping to get through at least 3 of them (plus 3-4 runs and 2-3 swims).

    12/3 - 25 min/7 miles (ramp test to determine FTP)
    12/5 - 1 hour trainer/18 miles (gradual ramp up to 85% FTP)
    12/10 - 1 hour trainer/21.2 miles (20 minute warm up, 7x20 sprints at 200% FTP with 5 min in between)

    20hrs 464Km 5838m for December. Had to stop at the 175km mark on a 210k 3700m ride with cramps, very frustrating.

    Again only managed one short outdoor ride pottering to shops and the gym, rest of my 89 miles this week were indoor training.

    Good end to the week as did a max average power 20 minute test and set a new PR of 228w which very neatly gave me 3w/kg which has been a personal goal for a long time.
    Would have got there a lot faster by dropping my weight rather than improving my power but where's the fun in that? ;)

    Managed one outdoor ride last week but was a bit eventful before I even started. Tyre valve blew off when I attempted to inflate the tyres and the valve jammed in the pump. Had to strip down the pump and fit a new tube. Fortunate really to have a mechanical failure at home with all my tools and workshop stand to use.

    Today was a final ride for the year including a 20min FTP test which was close to my best - which I'll happily accept as my training has taken a bit of a hit recently with family commitments.

    Ending 2018 with 335 hours of cycling and 5,569 miles recorded. That's 10% up on last year and my biggest ever volume. Garmin estimates 172,554 calories and I've certainly enjoyed eating and drinking them. :)
