Shopping for apples in The store. Elderly lady comes over to do the same. Looks at me and says “Healthy eating is a real b*tch.” #daymade #adoptme #bemygranny #metmyfutureself

The best! I love little exchanges like this. ❤️1

Well, that's a relief. I was afraid it might be a fetish thing.7

I kinda think I am the elderly. I guess that doesn't stop me from loving us, though.17

Same! Elderly people talk to me everywhere I go, I love them3

In my job I meet lots of elderly people - some are nice , some are not.
Bit like younger people really.15 -
It was so funny because it was so random and she was so serious. My guess age wise is 75 or so. She was awesome.1

I find it kind of amusing when younger people are shocked that I'm open-minded and pretty liberal. Many of us old-timers came of age in the late '60's, early 70's, for heaven's sake, not the Victorian era18

Well, now I'm worried again, because two people found the idea of it being a fetish thing "inspiring". ??8 -

Personally surprised she made to to elderly if she really eats the way she talks. Of course there are different definitions of elderly.15 -
I meant no offense. I just loved her spunk and she surprised me.9

How can you determine how she eats from what she said in that moment?
OP, your post gave me a laugh. It's awesome when complete strangers can give you a moment of bonding instead of just cutting you off on the parkway!11 -

Well, it would only be a tiny hijack . . . !
(Just kidding! Just kidding! If I wanted that, I'd spend time in Chit-Chat. ).7 -

My grandma just turned 95 and pretty much started taking the opposite approach a few years ago. She eats hot dogs, Taco Bell, canned soups and chilis, etc. and either cake or ice cream every day. Of course, she's quite sedentary so she eats very small portions but she has whatever she wants.9

I am deeply envious of their ability to not give a eff.
My granddad lived into his 90s eating pickled pigs feet, cooking up and drinking shine, and smoking a pipe.10 -

Turn on, tune in, drop out -- thanks, Timothy Leary. Those were the days.4

and 2 people found me saying 'some elderly people are nice, some are not' as insightful
I didnt really need much insight to come up with that statement

If i get to 95, I'll be taking that approach too.
In fact always makes me smile when we have patient in their 90's and their cholestrol is found to be high in incidental blood tests and Dr tells them to adjust their diet or could have long term repercussions.
Heck If I'm 95 and I want to live on cream buns and fried donuts, I will - high cholestrol and long term, repercussions, be damned

I'm 69 and my mother turned 98 in October. She's eats anything and everything and weighs about 110 lbs. Everyone just loves her at the senior center where she plays bingo two days a week. Of course, they don't live with her, LOL.
PS: She's putting my sister and I into early graves chasing her around; at least she keeps us active.
PPS: My parents wouldn't let me go to Woodstock or San Francisco, but I did wear flowers in my hair.13
