OK, I'm down 66 lbs since I started my journey, most of which I've lost this year. I've still got a ways to go, but since the hubster posted his pix I thought I should too. The older pic if from last summer the end of July. The newest is from this morning on our bike ride. The water behind me is from Lake Michigan!

That is awesome .....When did you start trying to lose weight?

Heh heh, that is a LONG story. I've been trying for MANY years. I started putting on weight 12-13 years ago. I did WW, Atkins, South Beach, and Jenny Craig. I had some success but then would gain it and more back. I got to the point where I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I finally found a Dr. who LISTENED to me and in April of 2008 I was diagnose with Hypothyroidism. At this point everyone told me it would be hard if not possible to lose the weight. I was still determined to lose it. I joined Curves in September 2008 and started working out 5-6 days a week. I lost about 10 lbs but was still frustrated with my progress. In July 2009 I ended up in the ER with horrible GI pain. They did a ton of tests, gave me some medicine and sent me on my way telling me to make an appointment with a Gastroenteroligist. As most of you may know, it takes MONTHS to get in to see a good specialist here in the states. I saw him in September and was told it could be anything, he just didn't know with out further investigation. He gave me a NASTY RX of liquid to take 3 times a day to help. It did, so I kept taking it until my appt for an upper GI in October. After I had the upper GI I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, and thus started my next journey. I've been eating Gluten Free since the end of October 2009, but still struggled with weight loss. Many of the GF foods are made from rice and corn, so they are higher in calories/carbs. For example, the bread I like is 180 calories for one small slice! My OBGYN started me on a High Protein/Low Carb diet last October. I had some success losing around 20 lbs, but gained about 10 back. At the end of March this year I switched to seeing her at her weight loss practice and she started seeing me every week and I followed her plan religiously. I've dropped 56 of the 66 since 3/31/11 this year by following high protein(90+ grans a day)/low carb(less than 100, try for less than 70 grams per day) religiously. I've also been exercising more and more to the point that I can easily ride 22 miles on my bike without a problem!
