Hi everyone. Im Maree and starting another diet probably about the hundredth time. I cant tell you how many times ive joined weight watchers and failed miserably. The only time ive ever lost weight and kept it off was when i calorie counted. So here goes. If anyone can support me please friend me as i dont know how to do that...lol im 52 with a underactive thyroid so weightloss for me is usually a slow process. If anyone can give me tips especially with the thyroid im all ears. Happy New Year everyone. Hope we all have lots of positives.

    Welcome aboard!

I'm 47 and sans thyroid. Joined up with MFP 4 years ago, hit my goal weight and have been in maintenance for the last 3 years.

Thyroid isn't much of an issue as far as metabolism. This may affect your appetite, but not hunger. There are a number of member here with hypothyroidism or similar issues, so you're in good company.

...and this may seem counter intuitive, but weight loss should be a slow process. Your weight is an output of your behavior and changing your behavior is hard and takes time, but so worth it.

As for tips I take my Synthroid at 5am and drink 16 oz water. I drink water throughout the day and specifically 30 mins prior to meal times. Other than that it's just tracking my caloric intake and output and regular 6 month meetings with my endocrinologist.
