Side effects of my low calorie diet

Last year while on mfp I got a few stomach bugs. Just thought it was a bad season. I’m generally healthy.
I took 2 months off and started again this year. I’m a volume eater and so I have been skipping lunch to have a good sized dinner. I also work through lunch which helps. Yesterday I had a terribly sore stomach, I put it down to not eating and only having a few hot drinks. I also get acid reflux. I had subway but it kind of made it worse. I assume the acid in the veges did it along with the sauce. I decided to have a good breakfast today of eggs and English muffin hoping it would help settle my empty stomach. I’m still having a sore stomach and feel like I’m going to end up having a stomach bug. Has anyone else experienced this while limiting calories? I’m doing well food wise and eating healthy. I have reflux meds but because of an auto immune disease I have I’m trying to limit my medication use

My calorie intake is 1200. I had spoken to my doctor who told me to take the medication for reflux and that it’s probably hunger pain. She thinks low calorie is the way to go for weight loss so has no issues with it.

reflux can cause pain too just so you know. so can other issues like h pylori, ulcers, etc. see a gastroeneterologist and see whats going on if its a lot of pain and take the meds. I too have auto immune issues and take meds for reflux/GERD with no issues. gastristis is another thing it could be but you need to see a specialist to rule certain things out a regular doctor usually cannot.

Bear in mind general docs are not the greatest source of information for weight loss. You're definitely better off getting recommended to a specialist or a dietician (more a specialist in your case)

I agree I had a GP prescribing me all kinds of meds for my GERD they barely helped. I went to a gastroenterologist who did a scope and saw that I produce way too much stomach acid so Im on a PPI and a H2 blocker, some days that still doesnt take care of it 100%. Ive also had gastritis which was given meds for that which helps for a short time. had I never went to the gastroenterologist Id have never known what was causing my issues

.I had h pylori in the past and she also looked for that(one you have it it will come up as a positive on any current blood tests,so a scope or fecal test can be done to see if its active and it can be transmitted to another person. There was none and she also did a biopsy just to make sure all things were good. it was. so I would advise anyone to go and see the specialist and see what is causing the issue because some types of GERD can cause severe health issues and some of them can lead to cancer of the esophagus.

The way you have worded this makes me think your doctor is not fully engaged. I would ask for a referral or seek a second opinion. Also, many doctors are notoriously bad sources of information when it comes to weight loss. Mine is fairly thorough but his answer to anything diet related is always veganism.

Were you directed to drink green tea or to stop? Because green tea does have caffeine in it.

I was directed to lower my caffeine intake and try honey it worked for me
Caffeine may stimulate the gastrointestinal tract leading to stomach upset nausea and diarrhea Coffee is acidic which can cause abdominal cramping and irritate the lining of the stomach

I would definately consider gall stones. If you have them they will get worse. This is a common side effect of dieting strictly. If that's not the issue I also can agree with checking for H. Pylori. I had it for years and my doc never diagnosed it but a gastroenterologist found it while checking for something else. As everyone else has said you can't self diagnose any of this by yourself but should see your doc and if he/she isn't helping maybe you need a second opinion. Hunger is unpleasant but I don't think it should be causing pain. There's a difference and hunger will pass over time then come back. If it's steady I would suspect something else but I'm not a doc. Hope you feel better soon.

coffee will only do this IF you have ulcers,gastritis/GERD or something along those lines. hot coffee for me does this due to having gastritis/Gerd but if I drink it cold Im fine while it may stimulate the GI tract it doesnt mean its going to cause the above issues in everyone.
