HI All,
This is the first post I have ever put on a weight loss site....yikes I am nervous!
I really want/need this to be a successful endeavor....weight has been a long time battle that I need to conquer! It is the last frontier for me I guess....this site seems so supportive, I am so encouraged! Looking forward to "meeting" some of you! Excited to start the first day of the rest of my life!!
What are your best tips for a newbie??
Best,
Jen

Chin up and never look back! You may see a negative or you may not see anything, mix it up and you will see results! dont eat under 1200 calories and healthy food counts!

Hi and welcome. Best advise I can give? I log in everything I eat, and my exercise, from my iPhone. If it was me starting out again I'd take measurements, not just use the scales. It's encouraging to see my shape improving, even when the scales don't acknowledge it. Feel free to add me as a friend, I'm in Australia, so there is a time difference, I don't ignore people, I am sleeping at times your not :-) goodnight!

It will take a week or so to get used to the smaller portions. To help from feeling too hungry, eat a lot more vegetables. They will make you feel full. Also, share your Food Diary. That way your friends can help keep an eye on you and make suggestions about other good foods for you to add. Checking other members Diary is also a way to learn healthy food choices. Stay strong, keep at it and you will see/feel the new you coming out. Feel free to add me if you wish. Good luck.

p.s.To share your diary: Go to My Home tab….click Settings….then click Diary Settings….Then either choose *Friends Only or *Public. I chose Friends Only.
  • Hi everyone,

I've been using the app on my iphone full time, this is my first time on the website through my laptop. I've been using MFP for a few weeks now and have lost 5 pounds so far. Hoping to try and find a few friends through this for help and support!

Thanks guys, all good advice, and the "friends" thing is a great way to stay connected! I am going to try to take it one day at a time....I work out 3-4 times a week with a trainer, just have never been able to put both sides of the puzzle together and I realize that what you eat is so much more important for the weight loss.....but enjoy feeling healthier from regular exercise! I am hoping with the help and support of others, it will be a long term life changing exercise!!
Thanks, keep the comments coming! I feel energized already!
What do you put in your fridge as "go to" staples??

I have been on here one week and it has been great!! My advice is to log everything you eat! It really helps and makes you think twice before eating something! Good luck!
  • My advice is to have a nosey on the success stories on here, true inspiration for when your having one of those off days or a weekend blow out, seeing how determined they are and how supportive everyone on MFP is, is the only advice i can think of. That and logging your food, knowing exactly what it is you are eating everyday can be a real eye opener, i plan my meals for the day, add them in the morning and then i have no excuse to cheat!

    Good luck!
