This might be a dumb question but I have a 60lb weight loss goal but at the same time I also want bigger rear end. Is this possible?

Weight will come off where it wants to. You can't control it but you can retain the muscle that you have by lifting while in a deficit. Then, when you're satisfied with your weight loss, you can eat at maintenance or a small surplus and grow your glutes through lower body focused strength training.9

Sorry, OP. You can't really "spot reduce" when you're losing weight. The weight will come off where it does as it pleases, like Teabythesea_ said. She gave you some really excellent advice.2

PS: Genetics also have a lot to do with it. Diet? Nope.4

Squats, squats squats....and more squats. Transform your booty! From jiggly to firm and round like a cherry tomato.9
-
In terms of inches? No.
Visually? Maybe.2 -
Cherry tomato is an odd choice. I thought peach was the go-to fruit comparison for someone's squat booty.11 -
You can't "spot reduce" any more than you can "spot increase".
Also, with a 60 pound goal, you're going to be smaller all around. You aren't going to make your rear bigger (at least in terms of measurement) than it is now.
HOWEVER, you can certainly make it a very nice rear end. You'll lose fat and gain muscle. Just do it.6 -

The sincere answer to your question is a flat NO.
As everyone said, genetics determines the distribution of fat. We can't spot reduce.
Please do yourself a favor and be satisfied with your built. Loose weight to be healthy. Do not be deceived by the shapes you see out there. Those people have their own issues (which you do not want to know).
These are some truth about you!
- You are special
- You are unique... there is no 2 of you.
- Your eye balls are unique. Wow O.
- Your hand prints are unique. With over how may trillions in the world?
- Your gifts are unique. Nobody on earth can replace you.
- I can go on and on... but you get the point.
Alternatively, if you want to deceive yourself, the plastic/cosmetic/pharmaceutical people will be delighted to eat your money and pump your booty ..... It will never be permanent and you will be totally dependent on them because you will keep contributing financially to them to keep the big boot. The side effect, you do not know and you may be a data.
I wish you the best in your weight loss journey. Join some challenges and get motivations and support.

Thank you for all your responses, I have read them all and appreciate everyone of them! I will continue with my weight loss first and worry about my rear end looking like a cherry tomato or peach second and find happiness in being healthy! Finally9

You can definitely build muscle while losing weight, if you have enough weight to lose. It has nothing to do with spot reduction - muscles grow when you work them, so work your booty! Get a good lifting program and get started.5

Muscles grow by working them and being in a calorie surplus. Weight loss requires a deficit. There are certainly exceptions but OP will not have muscle growth eating what it would take to lose 60 lbs.6 -

This really depends on what degree of training the op has had. If they are a newbie, they can see decent gains for a few months at the start of training. It will trail off after that.5 -

The exception to that is obese newbies, who can often see muscle gains even in a deficit, since their bodies can draw from their fat stores.1 -

I'm confused by the claim that you can't spot increase. If all you ever do are bicep curls, the only thing that's going to get noticeably bigger are your biceps. I'm acquainted with a couple of fellows who are seemingly allergic to leg days but have massive arms and I'm sure plenty of others know bros like this too. You haven't any control over in what order or how quickly you shed fat from specific areas of your body but it is absolutely possible to increase only specific muscle groups while ignoring others.
If OP wants a bigger booty, OP would do well to focus on booty increasing exercises like squats etc. while losing so as to retain as much muscle mass there as possible. Then, once having reached their goal weight, continue on with the squats etc. in maintenance or a slight surplus to gain muscle there.10 -
The fat will come off where it's going to come off (you can't change that).
You can build some muscle where you want however. (squats, deadlifts, back extensions, hip thrusts,.. for instance will help for the glutes & thighs).
So, depending on where you carry your fat, you'll likely lose some quantity of volume on your backside (of the non-shapely-squishy variety) from the weight loss, but you can build up some shapelier firmer volume (albeit probably less quantity) there via weight training.1
