Headbands at the gym?

A while back I posted how bad I sweat at the gym, to the point where I'm dripping sweat within 10 minutes of moderate cardio. A while back I remember wearing a headband while doing cardio and it helped immensely, but at the gym I go to I never see anyone wearing a headband (and it's usually packed) so I would feel so out of place wearing one. Does anyone else wear a headband when working out, or is it considered nerdy? Lol

The ones I've been thinking of getting are from lululemon:

I always wear one. It helps keep all my hair that comes out the ponytail or braid from getting in my face while also helping tremendously with sweat.

Wear it, give it a week and you'll see others with one; either because they think it's a good idea or because you'll finally notice that there are people who wear them that you simply didn't notice before.

ETA: either way, I'd wear one. Sweat in the eyes sucks.

I wear a ball cap with an extra thick band to keep the sweat out of my eyes.

I see women wearing headbands all the time. Men not so much anymore (except maybe for on tennis courts).

I wear them all the time, hair is mad and falls out of clips all the time when I workout, and it drives me bananas falling in my face.
I have a couple, like the look of those you mentioned, so maybe need a couple more!

Seems very 80's porn star ish :)

I admit I'll wear on at home and outside but can't seem to bring myself to wear one at the gym. I really should when on the TM as I sweat a lot.

I wear them (headbands or a buff over my whole head) when I spin.

Why do you care if other people are wearing them? If they help you then wear them. Personally I don't like them, they either don't stay in place or squeeze too much.

Check out Halo headbands, lot of runners use them. Work great to wick sweat off your forehead, etc

I always have a headband on at the gym.
Thick fabric ones for spinning and intense cardio, and the thinner rubber band ones for lifting.
My hair is long and curly so even with a double pony tail holder and bun, I need to keep my hair and sweat off myface.
Honestly, who cares if no one else has one on?!
That’s kind of a silly reason not to be comfortable. It’s just the gym.

So, I thought the title said "husbands at the gym" and started reading the first sentence and thought you were going to be embarrassed for your husband to see you sweat, lmao!!

With that said, just wear a headband!! Don't worry about others. I, personally, can not wear headbands ever because they slide off my head almost immediately no matter the type. I wish I could, I could have bangs again and use a headband while I worked out.

They slide off my head too. I have to put a couple snap barrettes just behind my ear and across the band to hold it into place.

I have a Mission "cooling" headband. I row for as long as an hour at the gym. Keeps the salty sweat from burning my eyes. I don't care what I look like. I love mine. Get mad when I forget it.

I have quite a collection of bandanas! I'l fold one into a triangle and then roll/fold it into a long strip and tie it around my forehead. I can mix and match them with my shirt colors and they make a great non-food reward for working out or reaching a new running milestone. Buying holiday themed ones is fun, too. And around here they're about a dollar, so I'm not breaking the bank, either!

Wear what makes you comfortable. It doesn't matter what other people are wearing.

I wear a buff when I run. I have a small head and they fit me better than headbands do. The extra surface area might be good for you in terms of absorbing sweat. Plus, if you really hate wearing it, you can just take it off and use it to wipe your face instead.

Do they really work in absorbing sweat? I'm constantly dripping in sweat. I don't care about hair in my eyes, but I look like I went through a car wash by the time I finish my workout. Also, if you are placing it on your forehead, and not just to hold back hair, do you find that you break out? I have acne prone skin and would worry about the bacteria being trapped along the headband line.

Do what works for you. You're there to work out, it's not a fashion show.

I use these for cycling, indoor spinning classes and at the gym to keep the sweat out of my eyes. I keep threatening to show up at my tri club with an eye patch and toy parrot on my shoulder....

One of the advantages of being old like me is that I no longer care what others think about my attire....

I have a different style but same brand. Keeps sweat from my eyes. And I drip.

I just wear cheap crappy stretch terry cloth ones at the gym when doing things that make me sweat (most things make me sweat ;) ) - straight across my forehead, just above my eyebrows, because the main point is to keep that sting-y sweat out of my eyes (Yowch!). By the end of something like a spin class, the thing is soaked, not quite enough to wring out drops of sweat, but close. Once in a while, a few drops get in my eyes, but way fewer than with no sweatband.

I look like the people in those silly 1970s/1980s aerobic dance videos, just not as stylishly color-coordinated. Couple that with my signature naturally-curly "frantic gray Q-Tip" hairstyle, and you'd think people would laugh. If they have, I haven't noticed (and don't care). (If you're on web MFP, my extended set of photos includes one of me on a spin bike after class, wearing one of these sweatbands plus a rhinestone tiara. I think non-friends can see it, not sure.)

I still have a mild tendency to break out, despite advanced age, but haven't found it aggravated by the sweatband. Perhaps it helps that it isn't flat against my skin, but loopy terry cloth thread-stuff so there's a tiny bit of ventilation? Dunno.

I always wear one. I can't stand sweat in my eyes--it burns, and I sweat a lot from my forehead. I don't see them at my gym much, but I don't care. It works, and that's all that matters.

I love it!! You rock the sweatband and tiara and you are in envious shape!! I think I'll give it a try.

Why would you feel uncomfortable wearing a sweatband? I wear one all the time but most people don't. I'm much more uncomfortable NOT wearing one and having sweat drip everywhere. Anyone who is demeaning you verbally or silently isn't paying attention to their own workout.

I have an odd problem. Tiny head(for real, most 8yo children have heads larger than mine) and I have super fine thin hair. So nothing to hold a headband on, otherwise I would wear one. My options are typically a ball cap, bandanna, or even a toque sometimes depending on the weather and what I can get away with. Just do your thing. People who judge you while you are working out(or any time) are not worth trying to please.

I wear a buff or a bandana rolled over and over. I sweat like mad. And I agree that sweat in the eyes sucks.

I might have to look into the Napoleon Dynamite cap though! Kip looked so good in his :sunglasses:

I always wear a headband. Otherwise I get sweat dripping in my eyes and it’s a whole mess. Who cares what other people are wearing? It’s your workout, you do what works for you.

Would wear a halo headband back when I lifted during daytime hours when the gym would be more packed in the summer; I agree, they seem to not be so "fashionable" as they once were say in the 80s. Haven't really had the need to use since I exercise during the coldest part of day now (middle of night to early morning); probably would go back to using come summertime. I just prefer other methods to cut down on overheating (hair maintenance, proper layering, hydration, etc.)
