Going outside and running until it starts to snow, then I would do workout videos, OR join a gym (if i joined the gym, I would most likely only do the eliptical and the treamil, I know from experience these are the only things I'll use.) I guess keeping in mind the cost of having a gym membership, running for free would be better, but what do you think?

You know yourself best... How are you best at sticking to it? Would driving to the gym in the winter work for you or become an excuse? Can you use that money to buy an elliptical for the house?0

IF you're only going to do the elliptical or treadmill at the gym, then it's probably not worth joining. But that said, you would get better results if you also incorporate weight training into your weekly routine.0

I think you answered your own question. What's better than free?0

I personally do not have the discipline to workout at home. I belong to a gym and go there every day though. I do a combination of cardio machines and group classes as well as use the weights. This works the best for me and when it gets cooler here, I'll do some running outside. If you are disciplined and can get the workout you need at home, save the money for all the new clothes you'll need!0

I live in MI and pay for a gym membership and there are many days that I use the weather as an excuse not to go but if you get in the habit of going, I think you'll see it may become a healthy addiction. I always wanted to be one of those runners who run year round outside. I'm 42 and haven't ran outside since the 4th grade :laugh:0

OR - use the $$ that you were going to spend on a gym membership and head to Wal-Mart and get some resistance bands and some weights and work those into your workout DVD routine. This way, you get the benefits of all of it for a way lower price and you don't have to drive anywhere!0

Agree with Taso. If you decided to join a gym, I would look for the one has 24 hrs access. It gave me more flexibility and less excuse to be able to workout (when I had the gym access).0 -
thanks everyone, I guess I'll run outside until winter, then get a video and finally use that big excersis ball thats deflated in the closet0

outside outside outside outside.
Outside is always better (I do teach spin classes in the gym, but I prefer ANY DAY to be outside in the fresh air). Outside is also free!

This^^. Maybe get some yoga and/or Pilates dvds and use them as your toning/strength training (if you don't use the weights at the gym).0 -
Exercise at home, run outside for free, dance like a crazy woman! Buy a heart rate watch so you can see how many calories you are burning when you do workout and that will keep you motivated.0
