how much would you say is a healthy amount to lose in a month?

4 pounds doesn’t seem like a lot to lose in a month of work

4 lbs is good progress for a month! It's about how much I lost in January :)

Weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. The weight comes off slowly. But all those smaller numbers really add up over time. Trying to lose too much, too fast really just sets you up for failure. It works for maybe a couple of weeks but then becomes too hard or unsustainable and you end up giving up and eventually starting all over again. Losing the weight slowly through lifestyle changes that are sustainable for the rest of your life are the way you lose the weight and keep it off.

It also depends on how much you have to lose. Someone who is 300 lbs could easily lose 10-15 lbs in a month, maybe even more. But if you are a lot of closer to your goal weight you'll probably lose closer to 0.5 - 1 lb a week (or around 4 lbs a month).

do you think a person who is 158 pounds who’s 5 foot 5 inch is more likely to lose a pound a week. idk

Then a pound a week is a good rate of loss.

You are only a little overweight so I would say an average of 1 lb a week could be a reasonable goal, maybe a little under. It sounds like you are on track if you lost 4 lbs in the last month. You just have to keep it at it.

One common rule of thumb is to lose no more than 1% of your current body weight weekly, and typically less than that when within 50 pounds of goal weight. Slower is always fine, if it's more sustainable.

There's no reason to rush. If you want to keep the weight off, you need to form habits that you will keep for the rest of your life. That takes time.

1lb per week is ideal. Don't be too impatient. With not too much to lose it will be a bit slower than if you had a lot more to lose.

Slow and steady wins this race.

I concur with the responses above. I'm 5'4 and weighed 148 when I decided to start losing weight. My typical rate of loss was roughly 3lbs a month.

You'll get there! Just have to have a bit of patience when it comes to weight loss.
