Just wanted to remind all you MFPers (especially those new to getting healthy) about a couple of things...

First...
When looking for advice or tips on dieting, exercise, etc... keep in mind that everyone's body is different, and everyones lifestyle is different. What works for me may not work for you. There are some general rules of thumb that work for most people in most circumstances, but nothing works for eveyone all of the time. At the end of the day, getting and being healthy should be viewed as a work in progress.. you have to try different things to find what works for you, then be willing to tweak it if/when it stops working.

Second...
I see A LOT of posts about losing weight, and A LOT of signatures with weight goals in them. Your ultimate goal should not be to lose weight or to hit a target wight. Your goal should be to get healty... to establish good habits for eating, drinking and exercising that you can maintain long term. Weight and the number on the scale is a way to measure your progress (one of several) and a good way to keep the motivation up, but dont get overly wrapped up in what the scale says... focus on being healthy and feeling good.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Wait, we're supposed to be getting healthy? I may have been going about this all wrong.
  • Agreed...I was actually thinking this the other day. My fitness pal is about fitness....not weight loss....although sometimes this does go hand in hand....that should not be the end all be all....thank you for your public announcement. I think it may be time to change my signature.
