is there a medical reason that you need to follow a very low carb diet?7

I'm pretty experienced with vegetarian nutrition (been vegetarian for 45 years) . . . but not vegetarian keto. Some of my favorite protein sources and micronutrient sources contain carbs. Since I was able to lose weight quite handily (83kg to 61kg) while eating around 200g carbs daily, I was not motivated to do keto.
If you have a medical condition that has led your medical doctor to recommend keto as part of treatment, that would be a different matter, of course.

Not that it's impossible, but the two WOEs aren't really good bed fellows. Keto is already very restrictive...veg keto is going to be super restrictive and you're not going to have much in the way of variety.
Basically you're going to set it up to be 65-75% fat, 5-10% carbs, and 15-20% protein depending on what gets you to your keto carb target which for most people is somewhere between 20 - 50g carbs.3 -

do you have a meal plan/menu that you can share? thanks0 -
The what now?
Why?

Why have you chosen keto? I'd imagine it's pretty hard to do as a vegetarian.
If it's purely for weight loss, the good news is you don't need it. As outlined in the table above, all you need is a calorie deficit eating whatever foods you want.7 -

Not a meal plan exactly, but this is what I did to lose weight, just with the mistakes and false starts left out:

I'm in maintenance now (i.e., higher calorie goal), but my MFP diary is open to friends, so send me a friend request if you want to see what I eat - I don't log every day now, but do most of the time. I eat a lot of legumes & legume-sourced products (like legume pastas, tofu, etc.), only a small amount of eggs, and a fair amount of dairy (I and my Northern European genes like dairy just fine). I think I could hit nutritional targets as a strict vegetarian (no eggs/dairy) . . . but I don't want to.0 -

There's a woo, for you, from me. Gotta bring your own chocolate, though: I'm keeping mine.4 -

There is a lot of hype about 'leaky gut' that is, IMO, mostly bovine excrement. Eat a balanced diet that hits all the macros and meets your calories needs, and prepare to feel improvements as your body gets the nutrients it needs to function as intended.
And, sorry, but spot reducing is not possible. Exercise can help to tone the muscles, but, don't get too upset if that little belly pooch never leaves you; good undergarments will become your friend!
good luck.4 -
@amy19355 Sigh. I guess this is what I deserve for trying to be funny.10

Someone recommended Headbanger's Kitchen blog to me - it has a ton of desi recipes - not all vegetarian, but all keto. I haven't really tried any, but it's worth a look.0 -

How much protein are you getting? How do you plan to meet protein needs? Eggs are an enormous part of how I think vegetarian keto could work.0

Well, there's plain whole milk greek yogurt. If one were a smaller person (lower protein needs) who happened to be someone who didn't have to cut all the way down to 20 g of carbs to get into ketosis you could probably reach your protein goals with whole milk plain greek yogurt (which I like, but tend to use as a condiment or with my own whole fruit mixed in -- can't imagine eating that much of it plain day after day after day). And, of course, then you would need to eat hundreds of calories (maybe even a thousand or more, dependiing on your energy needs) of pure fat (or fat and protein, if you can find a carb-free lacto-vegetarian source) to get enough calories for the day. Mmmm.
Honestly, not a hater -- I like nutritional puzzles -- but I've never seen anybody on these vegan (or in this case, lacto-vegetarian) threads put forth anything that looks like a sustainable diet that hits protein and energy needs at 20 g net carbs.1 -

You got a hug from me that is only because you are not having the success you are after without throwing intermittent fasting, juice cleansers and some ACV into the mix!1 -

Yeah, I thought of greek yogurt and cottage cheese, as I personally use them for protein often, but I think eating so much of it would be difficult, and whole milk greek yogurt (Fage) seems to have 6 g of carbs with 18 g of protein. Nuts are similar -- you end up getting more carbs with the protein.0 -
If you have a reason to reduce carbs (PCOS, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance) then looking at making your meals fairly low on the glycemic index may be better, with that you make sure your carbs are balanced with proteins (from beans etc works) to keep blood sugar stable.
Keto works to create a calorie defecit, so otherwise there's no particular need for it.1 -
I found this link for vegetarian keto - lots of good ideas, if that's your thing. https://ruled.me/comprehensive-guide-vegetarian-ketogenic-diet/. Too restrictive for me.1
