My next goal is to lose fat and to maintain muscle. How long does it take the average person to lose fat? Hoping to look more lean for the summer! ![o6sl7ti758dw.jpeg](https://us.v-cdn.net/5021879/uploads/editor/qn/o6sl7ti758dw.jpeg)

There really is no "average" for this. There are a lot of variables that go into fat loss. Based on your pictures, you appear to be already at a healthy weight. That means any weight (fat) loss will be slow. When you are close to your goal weight, it is recommended to lose ~0.5 lb/ week. At that rate if you start now, you would lose about 7 lbs by Memorial Day (which is just under 14 weeks away).5

Why not start now? Is there a reason to delay?8

It really depends on how much you want to lose. I usually leave myself a good 4-6 months, but I like to take things slow, around 0.5-0.75lb per week.3

How much do you want to lose to be leaned out by your definition?
Start there and do the math.2 -
Eh better to start early and go slowly...gives you more time and can minimize muscle loss.1
