Hey guys! So I am so motivated and determined to loose these 10 extra pounds. I am a female 5’5 and am pretty active. I weigh 140 pounds. The app says I’m allowed to eat 1,600 calories. Does that sound about right? Idk I feel like it sounds like a lot? I mean, i know I eat more than that now, lol, but I need to get back on track!

what rate of loss did you put in MFP? you are already at a healthy weight so you should be looking at a slow rate of 0.5lbs/week.
and don't forget, eat back the exercise calories. MFP gives you what to eat to lose at the requested rate as is, if you exercise it's key to eat those calories back and not FURTHER increase your calorie deficit.5 -
I do not recommend eating back the calories burned. I get so confused what the purpose of that is and why ppl say that. This info makes it hard for ppl to reach their goals. Smh.30

I would like to lose 1 pound per week is what I put on there, but it totally makes sense to look at a half of a pound a week! I just remembered years back I weighed about the same and did a bod pod and I could’ve sworn my calorie intake was about 1350 a day! I could be wrong though!0

Then you don't understand the calculations used by Myfitnesspal.
From Help at the top of every page: How does MyFitnessPal calculate my initial goals?

Those 1350 would likely be your BMR. That's the calories that your body needs for you to survive a coma.. 1600 cal should be ok. Eat some of your exercise calories back, though. Your total shouldn't drop below your BMR. I have similar stats, and I lose almost too quickly at 1600. Monitor your pace, and adjust accordingly.
Best of luck!3 -
I have successfully lost up to ten pounds by eating 1650 a day. I’m 5’5” and close to my preferred maintenance range at 1382

The way mfp works is it gives you a calorie goal based on user input but doesn't take calories burned through exercise into account.
So let's say mfp tells you to eat 1500 calories a day to lose 1 lb a week. But then you exercise off 500 calories. You're now running on 1000 calories. Is that your calorie goal? Is 1000 the same as 1500? I think not.
These, of course, are perfect world numbers.
That's why people are told to eat at least a portion of their exercise calories back. Because not perfect world numbers.
Plus it's unhealthy to under eat.

I recommend starting with what MFP recommends and then give it a few weeks. If you aren't losing, the you can adjust your daily goal downward until you find your sweet spot.
A big part of the equation will be how many calories you expend through exercise and other activities.
