well, my 1st time calorie counting using this App was more of a “wake-up” call for me.. i was totally not aware how bad some food were or how much sugar/sodium was in certain things... the App was easy however what i was eating was the problem... so in the very beginning i continued to eat my normal bad foods but i cut the portion in half (i ate all my meals on a small salad plate), when i got the hang of that then i ate more healthy options, after that i cut all snacks... so basically all i’m saying is it took time/steps for ME!!!!7

I love data and facts and routine so using a good app to count calories is perfect for me. If you do it right and consistently, results follow, and that is all you can ask for.3

Had to lose weight for ops so this app became that tool. Continued using to track cals and exercise to keep in maintenance0

I’m 62 and remember counting calories as a teenager when labels didn’t provide any information. We used little books that listed calories for common foods. So YES the app is easy.
And I’ve never done a diet club.1 -
I've used this website for 6 years and love it. I have lost 90 lb (of a total 130 lb weight loss) with MFP and kept it off for 5 years. I also love numbers & being "strict" with myself through calorie counting - although I do practice moderation and eat plenty of junk too.
However, I HATED the app and only used it for like 2 days. Ugh. If I was doing it with the app, I would have given up in a week or two probably. YMMV, obviously lots of people like it.1 -
To clarify, I don't use MFP to track any more for a variety of reasons, I use Lifesum.0

I started off eating normally, but cutting back on was I used to eat and I slowly stopped drinking calories. That right there was a huge saving of calorie for me.
Then eventually I became a planner. Once a week I figure out my meals for the upcoming week. This helps me greatly with grocery shopping, staying in control and fitting thing anything I want to eat.
Over the years I've built up a nice binder full of the meals, treats, bars, smoothies etc. that I make regularly at home. It contains a breakdown of the calorie amount and macros as well. I make all of my meals at home except for 1, maybe 2 times per week so it's pretty full.
This works so well for me. I lost about 60 of the 80 pounds planning out my meals and I have kept it all off almost 6 years.8
