How many calories when pregnant

Fell pregnant at around 91kg (currently 14 weeks).
I have been around 86-92 for the last 2 years (apart from being pregnant already)
was around 130kg in 2015/2016.

Was really hoping to knuckle down and get my diet back under control to lose another 10kg - but found out I was pregnant again.

Trying to work out how many calories to eat in order to nourish the baby, but without adding any extra unnecessary weight. Still feel that I was big enough when i fell that losing some of my own weight wouldnt be a bad thing and would only help me be healthier for this pregnancy.

Any advice?

There's intention ("the eating plan"), then there's reality, controlled by how your body will fare from one trimester to the next.

At last recall, the recommendation I believe was 150 calories to start, above your allotted daily calories. A sister-friend of mine is pregnant with her first, with her man of 4 years, now husband. The priority for her right now, is her commitment to drink a glass of orange juice, as her source of Folic Acid to benefit baby and her heart health.

It would be advantageous for you to pose this very question to your Obstetrician.

    Welcome!

Everything I’ve read is you don’t really need extra in the first trimester and 2nd or 3rd trimesters it’s only a couple hundred calories extra per day. I personally wouldn’t count during pregnancy just watch your portions and pick mostly healthy choices. Congrats!

As above - I counted calories with my last pregnancy, and followed the hospital's recommendations for calorie intake and the diet suggestions for gestational diabetes. I gained about 5kg for the whole pregnancy, my bub was a healthy 3.5kg (7lb 11oz), and by about 6 weeks postpartum I was 5kg lighter than when I conceived.

I counted cals and ate really healthily because I struggled with terrible gut issues during my first pregnancy, and suffered from PND, so I wanted to give my body (and brain) the best fighting chance. Still got PND the second time round, but hey, at least I tried.
