Doesn't matter.. if you want to seep the flavor . Add slice and wait..
If you want drink it quickly.. squeeze the juice and dump the slice in the water0 -
On the odd occasion I drink lemon water, I fill a glass with icy cold water and squeeze lemon in, then put a lemon slice or two in.1

What are you expecting it to do?13 -
Just water, and I squeeze the lemon juice in there when I want to drink right away.
When I make a jug of lemon water, I leave pieces of lemon in the water🍋0 -
I don't think there is a "right" way. What are you aiming for? To add flavour, instead of drinking plain water?6

I generally add lemon to my tonic. With gin. Best way to drink it! 😁21

There is no special way to make lemon water, and no special benefits of drinking lemon water. If you are looking for special weight loss or metabolism benefits from lemon water, they dont exist. If you are doing it because you like the taste better than regular water, then it's personal preference how to make it. When I've done it in the past, it's been easiest to take a cold class of water and just squeeze some lemon into it.12

I like it cold. If you drink it often, would be good to rinse mouth after. The acid can damage tooth enamel.2

I usually have my lemon water with sugar over ice...or Splenda, I think Chick Fil A puts Splenda in their diet lemonade...
I don't drink lemon water just to be drinking lemon water.3 -
lemon juice+drop sucralose+ice water or soda water for lemonade. I usually save the peel/zest & store in the freezer for cooking, and sometimes I'll add a bit of peel to water or tea for a lemony twist.0

I fizz up a liter with my SodaStream and add 1/4 tsp of lemon extract.0

I don't think there's a "right" way. I think any way to get lemon water in your body is great! (However, I did read that lemon and hot water is a good way to take it. I live in Florida and hot drinks don't really work out for me except for in the mornings. Too hot.)
Personally, I like filling a glass with ice, and then squeezing the lemon over the ice. Throw the rest of the lemon in and pour in the water!6 -
There are some great online articles about drinking warm water with lemon first thing in the morning for it's immune and cleansing properties.37

I prefer lime slices for cold water. Or lemon slices for hot water or tea when I have a sore throat. In either case I squeeze the juice into the water then drop the whole slice in.0

Try it one way, and see if you like it. Try it the other way, and see if you like that.
Whichever you think tastes best is the right answer.
Taste is the only reason to want lemon water. It doesn't achieve anything magical.
I drink lemon water or lime water every day, because it tastes good. In the morning, I lightly squeeze (don't fully wring out) a lemon or lime wedge into my cold matcha. For the rest of the day, I just keep refilling the glass with water when it gets empty. Because some of the matcha precipitates out, my earlier glasses of water are more matcha-y, and the later ones less. Same with the citrus. I do it this way because it's easy, and I like it.
Do what you like (including using warm, cold or ice water, because it really doesn't make any noticeable health or weight loss difference).7 -

Ok. So let ME tell you how to do it. You have to have pebble ice. Put some ice in a cup and fill the cup with cold water. Take 2-3 slices of lemons and squeeze the juice into the water. Then throw the lemon slices into the water. Get a reusable (think environmentally friendly) straw and enjoy! -lemonwater13

+1 for most appropriate user name.7 -
I like water cold. I like infused water, but usually not solely with lemon (more with other ingredients, into berries and kiwi and oranges now, plus mint or other herbs). I eat a lot of lemon (can't stand the bottled stuff, but actual lemon) as part of food preparations.
If I thought it were beneficial to eat hot or warm water with lemon, I'd seek out teas that go well with lemon and drink those.1 -

There's a lemon ginger tea I really like when my stomach is feeling a little unsettled.2 -
In the form of lemonade, when I feel like having lemonade. Other than that, I don't feel the need to do it.4

I've noticed that this OP rarely reports back after asking a question so we may never know which method she went with!1
