How long to get fit?

Hello, my height is 5’9 and my weight is 190. If I stay below my calorie intake and eat healthy, also workout 3 time or 4 times a week. How long will it take me to get toned up and loose the weight? Just curious and something to look forward to. Need some realistic answers here and people who know for a fact how long it might take.

No one can know 'for a fact'5

Too many variables in your question. How big a caloric deficit? What/how long/how intense are your workouts?
If, for example, you're averaging a 500 cal / day deficit it would be reasonable to expect to lose, on average, one lb a week. Keep in mind that weight loss isn't linear and depending on the workouts you're doing you can expect fluctuations based on water weight (muscle retains water while repairing after hard workouts). The getting "toned up" also depends on what you're doing and how big you calorie deficit is and how much lean muscle mass you already have (it's almost impossible to put on any appreciable amount of muscle while eating at a deficit but losing fat will reveal the muscle you already have and strength training will help preserve muscle and make you stronger)

No one can even give you anything close to a realistic estimate. Everyone's body is different and everyone's progress will be different. "Fit" and "toned" are also very subjective definitions so what is considered fit to one person may not be the same to another.
I would not worry so much about the time line, and just focus on the journey. If you eat at a moderate deficit, and work out, you will see gains and make improvements. Sometimes setting up a time table can be a bad thing because if you don't hit it, you can feel like you failed, even if you are still making progress.6 -

A pound a week is a realistic rate of loss2 -

And every little bit of fitness is worthwhile.
With proper workouts, you'll see some improvements quite soon (short number of weeks), like feeling less out of breath climbing stairs, or less stressed carrying heavy groceries, or a healthier glow to complexion.
Longer term, things keep improving, if you keep striving. But fitness isn't something one ever fully achieves, it's something one just keeps pursuing. That's part of what makes it fun.
And it had better be fun, or we probably won't do it for long.9 -
I’ll share my experience. I lost 80 pounds. Getting fit and losing weight were combined goals. It took me a year to become what I feel is fit.3

This approach is “finish line” thinking. There is no “finish line” in fitness. It’s best to fall in love with the lifestyle, as there’s just no way you’ll ever look in the mirror and think, “Now I’m perfectly fit.” Learn how to appreciate how exercise and good nutrition make you feel so much stronger and more confident. You’ll always see things about your body that you’ll want to work on, but a healthy lifestyle makes you appreciate the body you’re in nevertheless.5

I started becoming more fit within 2 weeks and I have continued progressing for nearly 5 years. It really all depends on your expectations and definitions of being fit.1

imho.... it's a process, not an event
it's about lifestyle approach
clean diet
exercise ( strength training and cardio comes in all shapes and sizes )
restful sleep
stress mangement
healthy relationships
patience and persistence
.....it's a long ride, take good care of yourself

It's a lifelong journey. No end point2 -
And how do you define fit? One person's fit might be another person's half way there.1

*"A man came up to me on the street and asked me, "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" I told him PRACTICE" Same for fitness and health. Practice it.

Lose what amount of weight?
At what point precisely do you declare you are "toned up"? How would you measure or quantify that?
For me at 5'9" I lost at 1lb/week to lose 23lbs from 198 -> 175lbs to get to my original goal weight.
I would guess that's far too high a goal weight for you, it was a little too high for me.
Lost the next amount of weight deliberately slowly, as slow as 1lb/month to fine tune my "ideal weight".
I know for a fact that your experience will be different to mine.
Started fairly fit, got fitter and carried on getting fitter way beyong the period of losing weight - there isn't an end point, there's always more to aspire to.

Op.. how ever you choose.. nobody can tell you how long it will take you.. don't rush.. just take your time.. my 2 cents.1 -
Fitness and weight loss can be fast but it's gradual so can be hard to gauge.
Keep filling in your diary and recording your weight and you'll see your trend.0 -
I approached it this way:
Let's see what I can do in 16 weeks if I apply myself.
16 weeks is not forever, so if it's not working for me for whatever reason, I'll do something different at the end of 16 weeks. If it is working and I'm happy, I'll keep going for another 16 weeks.0
