Iarookie,

Woo Hoo!!!

Please Introduce yourself! Friend each other. If you are comfortable with opening your diary- do that as well.

HI!!!

Im IARookie! I will be your team leader for the September Challenge! Im really not an Iowa Rookie anymore but have been using that user name for awhile. Most MFP friends call me Rookie but my real name is Janice or Mom depending on who is asking. I was born and grew up in Minnesota. I have two teenage children. One is very thin and athletic and the other is overweight and sedentary. I have been on MFP since January. I lost 12 pounds but some of them found there way back over the summer when I got lazy and lacked discipline.

Im so excited to get started on this new challenge! I have never even done a challenge before so being the leader will be a challenge in itself. I am a very open to suggestions and any help will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome aboard! We are going TRIBAL (grunt)! This is going to be a great month!

    Hi everyone!

I'm Lynn, 41yrs old and live in Perth, Australia (originally from the UK though). Original start weight for me was 185lbs. Have lost 46lbs so far and am fairly happy with where I am, but ultimately I want to lose a total of 56lbs, so still trying to get another 10lbs off!! Have been around this weight now for most of the year - loose a pound, gain a pound - can't seem to get it right! Have completed one round of Insanity and have started it again a couple of weeks ago. Just waiting for P90X to turn up so that I can do that aswell. Have to say, I am really excited about this challenge! Can't wait to get stuck in!!

Pleased to meet you all :flowerforyou: :drinker:

    Hey everyone!

I am Amber and am from Loveland, Co. I am a Family and Consumer Science (aka: home ec) teacher so I am around food pretty much all day long. In the past I could manage not snacking because I shared a room with another FACS teacher. This year I am at a new school and all alone in my department. I worry that if I get stressed I will walk around the corner and find something to snack on. I am excited to be challenged. I need someone to tell me what to do or I won't do it. :) I have about 60 lbs. to lose so I need to focus on small goals at a time or I will get overwhelmed and give up. I hope to stay motivated and succeed in this challenge.
  • Hi everyone. :)

My name is Lauren and I'm 21 years old. I live in Illinois and I have a BA in Art & Design but I'm going back to school to work towards going to medical school! It's an exciting time in my life and I'm tired of being hindered by my weight.

I gained a lot of weight in high school and college from being undiagnosed with depression but I've been changing my life, and now I'm significantly happier with who I am and where I'm going.

I've only just started my journey of getting rid of my weight (I'm not 'losing' weight; I have no intention of finding it again!) but I'm unbelievably motivated and I'm up for the challenge. :)

I'm excited for September and nice meeting everyone. :)

HI everyone, I'm Marie-Anne, i'm 46 (soon to be 47 lol) i live in calgary, alberta, canada. i started at 296 lbs have lost 54 lbs so far and have another 112 to go. I eat clean, i work out twice a day. I recently started the C25K program despite some arthritis in my knees but so far so good. I work for a book wholesaler where I'm surrounded by books all day which is my idea of heaven.

and Lauren, i just found a site by a fitness trainer called davey wavey and he refers to it as "releasing" weight. I love that phrase. I\'m releasing my fat into the wild where it can roam free and never bother me again.

    Hi everyone!
My name is Nicole or Nikki, whichever you prefer =) I will be 25 next month, and recently graduated from The Ohio State University with my degree in Social Work. I am currently on the job hunt and am ready for many life changing oportunities. I would like to lose this weight so that I have more confidence in myself. I have been doing pretty well so far but do need some extra motivation to get my exercise in so this challenge will be a great way to get into the habit.

I am very excited for this challenge and to have all my new buddies! We can do this ladies!!!!!

Hi team I'm Alicia and I am 28 years old. I have lost 13 pounds so far and have another 81 to lose. I work full time in Accounting, I am a full time student (going to school to become a teacher), and I am a full time mom. I'm also a party consultant so as you can see my schedule is pretty full. My main struggle is the lack of exercise as well as the eating out on days I have to work late. I'm really excited to meet everyone and I am really excited about this challenge!!

Hi, everyone! I am Catie, I am 20 and a full time undergad student majoring in theater. I injured my knee in a required dance class freshman year, and have since had three surgeries (the 3rd was only two days ago!) so the weight has slowly crept on. I am considered average in terms of BMI, but want to get back to competitive running and the athletic shape I was in before the surgery. I am looking to loose around 20 more pounds in that process.

I can't wait to see where this challenge gets everyone!! =)
  • Hi Team Mates!
My name is Jessica. I am 28 (29 on Sept 3...eek!) I'm a nanny for the cutest two year old twin boys. I'm from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I've lived here my whole life and I love it! For the most part, everyone fits the "Minnesota Nice" persona.
A little bit about my "workout" life....haha. I gave up drinking pop January 1st and lost 7lbs in about 2 weeks and thought well, time to get my butt to the gym. So I signed up for a gym membership in March and to date I have lost 29bs. On my ticker it says only 22, but I didn't add in the 7lbs from my weightloss from the lack of pop in my diet. I joined POF about month or so ago and I have become really aware of what I put in my mouth. Now, don't get me wrong...I enjoy ice cream, pizza and pastas and the occasional trip to BK, but literally once every 2 months. I don't believe in strict dieting, i.e. cuting things you love out of your diet. I believe in food in moderation.
I'm super excited about this challenge! I have 70lbs to lose still, but I know with the help of this team I'll reach my goal! :)

Hi Everyone! I am Darby, will 41 in a couple of months, and live in the great state of Alaska! I have lost nearly all of my first goal of 50 pounds. Once I reach that, I will aim for another 25, and then another 25 after that. I decided to break up my goal, so 100 pounds wouldn't seem so daunting! Most importantly, I am moving! I started out walking, and have moved on to running. My son has been such an encourgement to me, running my first 5k with me this year! Today we hiked/ran a trail in Denali National Park, with a 250 foot elevation change! I have learned so much this year, about nutrition and food choices! I, too, believe in moderation. I don't exclude anything, as this is not a diet to me, but a new ME! I feel it gives me more control, as I don't crave things I "can't have". I also look at my daily calories as a "budget" and try to get as much bang for my buck as possible. I don't believe in "diet" foods or those low-fat/non-fat manufactured products. Only real stuff, that my body will recognize, and everything in moderation! I look forward to working with everyone!

Okay it looks like we have all introduced ourselves.. Hello and welcome! If you havent friended each other please do.

I was looking around and found this list of challenge expectations.

Totally stolen from another team.... but Im all about time saving. These look pretty generic so why re-invent the wheel?

    *********

I want a team filled with people willing to COMMIT!!! I expect the following from each of you:

~STAYING UNDER YOUR CALORIE GOAL DAILY
~DRINKING AT LEAST 64 OUNCES OF WATER A DAY
    ~COMPLETING ALL TEAM EXERCISE CHALLENGES
    ~POSTING IN OUR TEAM FORUM
~COMMUNICATING AND MESSAGING WITH ME AND YOUR TEAMMATES
    ~ENCOURAGING YOUR TEAMMATES
~HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND NOT GIVE EXCUSES

ARE YOU READY TO FINALLY CHANGE YOUR LIFE? I CAN'T HEAR YOU! I SAID ARE YOU REALLY READY TO FINALLY CHANGE YOUR LIFE?! TO BE THE PERSON THAT YOU KNOW YOU CAN BE! IT'S TIME TO STOP THE WHINING AND EXCUSES! I DON'T LISTEN TO THEM! YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT BECAUSE YOU HAVE ALLOWED YOURSELF TO BECOME THAT WAY! I WILL BE HERE FOR YOU AND ENCOURAGE YOU BUT I DON'T LISTEN TO THE WORDS "I CAN'T"! YES YOU CAN!

    Okay!! No Mo RULES!!

    Lets Visit!!

Topic - How do you feel before you work out?

The reason I ask Is today I sat in my car in front of the gym for about 5 minutes debating with myself if I was going to go in to work out. I was dreading it. I wanted to go back to bed or go get online or even clean my kitchen but entering that gym wasnt on my list of favorites this morning! I did it though- and I always feel better when I do work out. Just crazy I guess!
  • It depends on the day! Somedays I'm all "WHEEEEE, gym time! WOOT!" However, as of lately....the gym=worse then death itself!! I have been slackin MAJOR on the gym. I am a nanny that has been working 13-14 hour days the last 4 weeks helping my family get settled in to their new house. Needless to say after chasing around two year old twin boys for 14 hours a day the gym isn't a prority....my priority at the end of a long day is dinner, shower, bed by 830 so I can do it all again the next day!

it depends for me too. if i get up early enough in the morning i look forward to it. especially my C25K mornings. but right now I have a circuit class at 5:30 and i'm seriously thinkign about skipping it. I feel awesome afterwards but my legs are killing me and i'm freaking out over money and my car breaking down and i know it'll make me feel better to go work out but i'm so damn tired. I don't want to not give my all and for some reason that means in my head that it's better to not go at all. makes no sense, i know. bleh.

I'm back to work this week with students and can't believe how out of shape I am. I have never been this sore, tired, etc. from being on my feet all day. I was pretty sedentary this summer and I am reaping the consequences now. I am excited for September so I can get motivated to move! Hope you are all having a great week. :)

I am the same way. I had to cancel my gym membership so I am stuck exercising at home or outside. Motivating myself from home is so hard.

So the weekend is in sight! Any fun plans for you?

I'm going to a "Gala" at our science museum. I grew up very poor in a trailer house so this is very much out of my comfort zone. Hope I dont eat like a crazy person!

Hey guys!! Sorry I've been MIA from the discussions over the past few days. In response to how I feel before working out...Sometimes I can't wait to get out and have some time to myself and listen to music and get some fresh air (one reason I love running, though with my knee injury its been 16 months since I've ran). Other days I'm completely dreading it, and I think the best thing to do is just put on my gym clothes and go before I can debate too long in my head. Going with my mom or a friend is really helpful too. =)
