Any powerlifters?

Looking for people to add on here that have similar goals/interests as mine. I am pretty new to the sport. Just hired my first coach a few months ago. Been training in the lifts for about 6 months. I am hoping to do my first competition next year. Currently cutting down to the 240 weight class. Currently 270.

I train in more of a "powerbuilding" hybrid style but may consider dabbling in competing. There are plenty of us lifting hanging around.

Powerbuilding. I like that. That kind of describes my 35 years with iron. Never competed in either though, LOL.

I too just started powerlifting in October. I'm still cutting a large amount of weight while learning the lifts. I think my first comp will be next year. Everyone add me! I need more PL friends!

I just noticed my name was mentioned here about a week ago lol. I just finished deloading today and I'm getting ready for my 10th powerlifting meet Saturday! I'm coming off a shoulder injury and got a 5 lb. PB in squats (255 lbs), a 10lb. gym PR in deadlifting (310) and my bench form is much better this 16 week training block. I'm also working with a new coach and new programming so I'm excited to see the results! Feel free to add me

We had a similar discussion at the gym and the trainer there explained to us really heavy weights how much weight we "lift" every single day, every hour, every minute just walking around a bit. I started with 170 kg (375 pounds) body weight so I "lifted" at least 70 - 80 kg every single step. And I can feel it in my knees all right!

There isn't many of us here that are active on forums.

I started two years ago and I'm currently ranked #1 in USA for one age/weight class in USAPL. Pretty weird.

I lift! Not sure if its considered "powerlifting"...I squat, bench, OHP, deadlift, row, pullups, and split squats. I also do a few accessories, not much. Everything is on my own (gym to myself, write my own programming, etc.)

You're just training smart, not a powerlifter though.

Until at the very least you are signed up for a meet, you wouldn't be considered a powerlifter by definition.

Prepping & competing in front of judges/audience is a different animal.

Yeah, power lifted for 12 years, quit to raise kids got back into at 46. Got nothing left but a strong upper body. Working my way back to a 500 lb raw bench after shoulder surgery 5 years ago. I'm at 435 lb.now with a 395 lb incline. I'm 52 6'3 265 lb BW. Miss competing though, maybe one more bench competition. Add me, we can swap ideas on training. I'm not scientific, I'm more old school stuff.
