3-Month Weight Loss Challenge, February - May, Pick Your Difficulty

Oh my gosh!! I've been traveling and taking steroids for a back injury (i.e., little exercise and eating too much weird food), so I was sure the scale would be way up. But no!! I think my recent focus on weight training (before injury and travel) helped burn more calories (during travel) than I realized. Anyway, I'm still on my plateau, but not a huge travel spike - so I'll take it!! I'm behind in my goal progress, but learned so much this challenge about diet, exercise, injury, and rest. So, all-in-all super pleased:) I'll check-in again next weekend and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!
KOKO everyone🤗

It's been slow coming off, but there is progress. I can't lose hope or give up! Just a few more pounds and I'll be under 200 for the first time in almost 6 years (and 6 years ago, I only stayed under 200 for a very brief period!). It's been since around 2011-2012 that I was under 200lbs. Since 2010-2011 since I was under 190, and since 2008 that I was under 180. My ultimate goal is to weigh less than I did in high school, which I averaged around 160, still overweight for my height.

@tthickens637 I hope you had fun traveleing! Isn't it wonderful to realize you didn't gain weight while traveling? You must have developed good eating habits that stuck with you despite all the challenges you have right now!RileyHeavy wrote: »

That's actually pretty fast weight loss! You've been doing very well. You must feel so amazing being that close to 200. I'm happy for you!2 -
@Kiyomoo I actually went to the doctor today and it's the first time she's seen me since I started watching my calories. Last visit I was 227. She looked at my chart and asked if the medical assistant had put it in correctly, thinking she had meant 230 instead of 203 (with clothes and shoes, I was 201 this morning at home). She said I was doing a great job and to keep it up. Always a great feeling when someone notices. My own mother hasn't even noticed.2

That's awesome, you've done so well. It's actually pretty common that the people you are closest to are the last ones to realize because they see you more often. But people you haven't seen in a long time will be more likely to notice, lol. Your weight loss is inspiring!2 -

1st Mar - 276 - This last week is the first week where my motivation and determination have just gone. I've been fighting some major cravings and urges to binge this week.
I suppose it's a little natural to be disappointed that there isn’t a 2lb weight loss, but given the week I had it’s actually amazing that it’s a 0.2lb loss.
I’m trying not to think too much into it. As hard as the battle inside my head was this week at least I didn’t give in to the cravings and have not put weight on.
I’m feeling better now than I did so looking forward for the upcoming week. I’ve got a PT session tonight and they always make me feel amazing. So hopefully I’m off to a great start.

RL has been hectic the last 10 days or so. I am holding steady, so reasonably content.
Background informationWent up to 172 at the end of 2017 (Christmas etc), but have lost that again. I am very close to maintenance, so weight is dropping very slowly, but I would so like to hit my goal before my 73rd birthday in April. Also working on muscle toning at the moment, which isn't helping the scale but should even out eventually.Daily Health/Fitness Goals- Currently on Week 8 of a 10 week Boditrax Course at our local gym. (I won it at a raffle at a heavily discounted rate)
- Daily step goal is 9000. I do 15+ strength most days, targeting specific areas, and Yoga/Tai Chi for flex.
- I eat 90% 'clean/healthy' food and adhere to CICO. I do extra exercise to earn extra calories if I want treats.
Location: Northern Ireland
Challenge Starting Weight: 165
Challenge Level: ⭐️
Challenge Goal: 160
I'm thinking that making notes when I post each week might be useful.
01 Feb: 165.0 Started a muscle strengthening programme on the 26/1. My initial body assessment was very encouraging. Expecting weight fluctuations as the body adapts.
08 Feb: 165.0 My weight loss has halted, much as expected. In fact I had expected a small gain! Go figure!
15 Feb: 165.2 This process is seldom predictable. I will just go with the flow.
22 Feb: 164.5 Now that's a surprise. Mind you, I only did one gym session as my schedule was choc a bloc.
01 Mar: 164.9 Second body assessment showed some improvements. But fitting in the gym sessions was problematic.
08 Mar: 167.5 I upped my calories this week, specifically protein. And Valentine's Day choices have led to a bounce up. This always seems to happen to me when we celebrate.
15 Mar: 167.4 Focused on getting in some extra workouts, being more stringent with clean eating by weighing food portions, and replacing empty calorie snacks with healthy alternatives.
22 Mar: 166.2 Much happier with this. I have the odd blip, but generally sticking to my plan. Time will help me win through.
29 Mar: 166 not much progress to report.
05 Apr: 166 Keeping on keeping on. I have been wavering up and down half a pound, and it is creeping down, but ever so sloooowly. 😂
Progress- I am pre-logging my food and drink to balance macros/micros, weighing portions, and adjusting the entries as necessary
- I am fasting from 8pm to 9am daily, and have replaced most of my sugary snacks with more nutritious, protein-rich alternatives such as nuts.
- I'm looking for a downward trend on the scale over the next few weeks. Intrigued to see if it will pan out.
- I am exceeding my daily exercise goals
- I am working on muscle tone, and developing strength and stamina

I am in and love the challenges, I guess you can say I am addicted, lol. I will post weekly as I weigh in on a Friday.

Hi Everyone, You folks are awesome!! I love reading about, and leaning from, your experiences!! I'm so glad to be part of this group...
So, I once saw someone comment about being stuck on a plateau for two months and thought to myself 'OMG, that person has some amazing willpower. I would have given up long before eight weeks!!' Well, here I am on week SIX of my very own plateau and I'm still going (I'll admit I'm not going strong, but I'm still going). Actually, I'm surprised to feel accomplished - not frustrated and defeated as expected; now I know I can endure a back injury and not use it as an excuse to totally give up exercise; now I know I can travel away from home, my 'good' food, and my scale and not use it as an excuse to pig-out; and now I know I can endure a bonafide plateau and not use it as a reason to give up in defeat. I started this 'current' diet/fitness plan with the goal to make it a sustainable lifestyle and, apparently, I reached that goal!! Yay me.👏👏👏 Despite the fact that I'm still dealing with 166 lbs, like a worn-out house guest that's overstayed their welcome, I'm feeling as determined as ever to carry on!! So, I may not reach my goal-weight before this challenge is over, but I'm ok with that because I know I'm headed in the right direction and I'll get there eventually. And, best of all, I've proven to myself that I can sustain my healthy lifestyle!
I'll check-in again next weekend and I'll KEEP ON KEEPING ON! KOKO everyone🤗

Goal by May 1: 120
I ate about maintenance-level calories while I was travelling, so I wasn't expecting much of a loss. But then I've also been under the weather since I've got back (eating goal calories). So I'm not sure if my body just needed a week to be reassured that I wasn't going to let it starve, or if getting a little less exercise this past week has dropped some muscle mass. I'll take the scale reading and plan on returning to my regularly scheduled workout routine and see if the pounds come back for awhile. Five pounds to go to final goal weight, then I'm on maintenance for good :-)
