Similar. I want to go for a regular check-up to the doc has been threatening me with needing statins in a year (or in a couple more pounds) because "as you approach 60, you aren't able to lose weight any longer, so your blood work will just keep getting worse"...and instead have him say, "Holy s#$t, your cholesterol is normal, your blood sugar is normal, your pulse and blood pressure are normal, your BMI is normal and your weight is normal! You don't need any meds at all!"
@sharondesfor935 YES, this WILL happen! Totally do-able! All of this happened for me & I got off bp med & statin
@rhondamacleod1958 I’ve lost 76 lbs between the ages of 59y,10m & 63y,1m!
Lots of folks over 60 have lost weight in here & kept it off! You will too!
You ladies rock!9 -
I want a girlfriend again. It's been 10 years and I miss intimacy. That's honestly the real motivator here - and healthy benefits are a nice bonus.25

Retirement is the best time to get in shape! You have more time to exercise and eat right so you can enjoy all those hard-earned leisure activities.8

Let's see...hmmm...petty reasons...
Having good health, more energy, being able to be more active are my primary motivations. Those aren't petty, but I guess the side effect of looking fit could be called petty by some. But I don't personally think it's petty to enjoy a fit body or to enjoy the way it looks. There's nothing wrong with that.4 -
I want to put on a pair of jeans and feel like I can rock them. I also don't want to hide from the camera anymore8
-
My petty reason is that I'm extremely curious of how my face would look like after 50 lbs weight loss. I think I'm quite pretty now that I'm fat, so what would it be like if I was fit?? :O15
-
So I don't just have to wear baggy jumpers and hoodies all the time9
-
I want to be able to get my socks and shoes on without any effort10
-
I want to go broke buying clothes that fit properly.15
-
Not petty my health, petty a competitive inlaw.10

Thigh gap10

My weight gain is mainly in my tum, so it started to keep that slim. Not much to lose, but 20lbs can do a lot on a small frame.
Then turned into middle-aged female coworkers belittling me with I'm too skinny, could eat whatever I wanted, so lucky, etc. when I knew my diet was garbage and at an average weight. F you, see what I can do that you can't, because you have no self control with your portions and snacks.
Last year I gained up to borderline overweight, the highest weight I've ever been, working on that now. A convenient stomach virus and life falling apart within a month last year gave me a head start16 -
I saw someone else post something similar but it hit home. I turn 40 (I am not middle-aged) in July. Yea I don't want this body at 40, especially since I've heard from so many people not to get old. I know the extra weight makes the getting old come on a lot faster. Now that I have a new target date I need to figure out a target weight.9

I think I already commented in this thread that I'd like to fit into the many pairs of skinny jeans I have in my closet gathering dust. But I also want to get rid of these random aches and pains I've acquired in the last 2-3 years. I am at my heaviest.15
-
So I can stop untagging myself in other people's photos because I'm too embarrassed at how big I look
And it will happen, keep at it! I certainly have my awkward and ugly photos that turn up on social media too, but none mortify me to the point they did before, even if I'm not ay my ideal weight yet. And thank goodness.7 -
I have posted on this thread already, but I have another one. I've maintained my weight loss for over a year now and started working on losing some vanity weight at the beginning of this year. I just want maintain my weight for so long that it's no longer a discussion at my husband's family gatherings. It's uncomfortable.11

In 2015 my boyfriend and I were spending our vacation in Greece. The hotel had a roof top terrace and a pool. One day we were hanging around the pool and there was one skinny girl tanning. My boyfriend spent a day staring at her like a hungry dog on a bone. Later that year I started to work on myself lost 20 pounds and 200 pounds of a good for nothing boyfriend. I feel ok now just 10-15 pounds left to be happy with myself but this thing still motivates me.37

Not to have the dad bod anymore.12

I want guys to literally be able to pick me up and carry me without having to second guess if that's going to break their back, lol.
I'm also relatively short and I really want to be that "tiny girl" who's also super bad---12 -
My gut sticks out further than my chest lol12

I might have too many petty reasons!
-I'm one of three girls and I was always the "chubby" sister, even when I was a healthy weight because my sisters are built so small and differently from me. They bullied me intensely for it, and while we're all close now, I love that I'm turning the tables on that narrative.
-I want to be able to wear shirt dresses. I love them but they're so unflattering right now.
-I want to be able to wear 2 adorable dresses that I bought when I lived in Japan in 2012. I love the aesthetic of how feminine they are and haven't been able to find anything so cute in the US, so they've been waiting patiently for me in my closet.
-I'd love to be able to wear a bikini again.
-I'm a 4'11" equestrian. I prefer riding ponies, but at my heaviest I felt like I was a burden to them (even though I probably wasn't) - it's not JUST petty because if you look too big for your pony you will place poorer in horse shows, but I want to look as suited as the "pony club" kids on the pony I ride.
Probably so many more!

I want to be thinner than the very fit girl my husband works with and goes running with. He can’t see why that bothers me .24

I live in this rediculously fit neighbourhood. People running, swimming, playing sports, going to the gym (It's also in our area.) People out jogging with their dogs. People doing stuff in the parks. ( 2 swimming pools, basketball courts in three different areas, tennis court, volleyball court, soccer feild, baseball feild, walking path/bike path) The people are fitness/sports obsessed in my neighborhood. Even unfit people are out there working their butts off, and putting in the effort. Instead of being one of the struggling unfit people, I want to be one of the fit people.11

I'm mad at myself because, even though I'm still hot 😎, i could probably fly with my arm fat. My past self is mad at my current self. My future self says "f that you better change before you get here!"10

I think this all the time. I had an ex that would tell me "you're so tiny!" (I'm 5'5" so I'm actually pretty average) but it felt so good and I miss it. I want to be seen as the small, feisty girl6 -
I want to fit in a size 12 jeans again. I’m only 5’4” but a little big boned. When I was that size my friends thought I wore much smaller size jeans. 😌6

-I want to be the hot stepmom and swim team mom
-I want the body I never had when I was younger
-I want to rock a bikini at our vacation in Key West in 1.5 months
-I want people to look at my husband and think, "man, he got a hot wife"
-I want to wear the same size as my teenage daughter
-I want to fit all the pretty clothes
-I want to be the skinny friend
Ultimately I want to lose weight for my health markers as I am predisposed to heart disease, and to be in shape for traveling later in life. But I'd be lying if the above were not also considerations...16
