How long in maintenance: I reached my goal weight about a year ago, but kind of bounced around for a while.. it's taken til now since the beginning of the year to be getting consistent weigh-in's in the range I want to be in. So, I'd say only within the last couple weeks I've officially been in maintenance

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Nothing really this week.. I did feel extra snack-y this week and found myself having some late night chips 😊 But glad to see it didn’t affect anything and I’m still right where I want to be.
I don't have too many plans this holiday weekend, just one brunch Sunday morning, the rest should be as normal. So I'm hoping not to see a big jump. But I will enjoy all the delicious foods at the brunch!5 -

Success/Struggles: Pretty late posting this week. It's been really busy and I haven't had much time to dwell on food, so I've been pretty spot-on calorie-wise since I'm not sitting around trying not to think about how good those crackers and cheese would go with that glass of wine
Wishing everyone a successful upcoming week!

I have decided to join this group now; I could use the support. I joined several challenges while losing weight, the last one ended just a couple of weeks ago when I was within reach of my goal. I haven’t decided on my maintenance range, in fact I’m not sure whether 50 kg is my final goal.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: The scale registered just below 50 kg! Goal weight.
20 years ago, I lost a lot of weight with 8 stone as my goal (112 lb) and maintained quite well between 8 and 9 stone for 15 years. However, it went wrong after I retired 4 years ago. Found MFP, made some decisions and got down to it. Lost weight steadily with 50 kg (110 lb) as my goal – but really only chose it because it’s a nice round number. At 68 I’ve already lost 1 cm (1/2 inch) height since my 40’s so I need a lower goal. I shall see how it goes. I’m retired so I have quite a lot of days out and meals with friends and lots of holidays! I’m hoping joining an accountability group will help me stay focused.

I'm super stressed this week and next, I haven't been keeping up with my logging. I think I'm okay, I am keeping an eye on the scale. Throwing the kids a birthday party this weekend, Easter, I have outpatient surgery next week, my daughter woke up with an earache in the middle of the night last night, my son has a lot of soccer games...Financial issues this week as well.
This is life, and I'm livin' it. It just keeps me on my toes.9 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Still logging 100% of exercise. Exercise was sort of track. Missed one day of cardio as my son had a function at the high school that consumed my whole evening and rain cut in to my lunch walk on the same day. With the increase in calories in I am upping my nighttime stacking to make sure I am getting close to the daily goal. I’m generally conditioned to eat less so I make up for it at the end of the day.
Odd to see 154 this morning since I had been trending lower than that each night this week. Not to worry, stay the course!

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Overall it's been a good week. I managed to get in over 20k steps on Sunday - always nice to start the week out on a high note with exercise. I went out for dinner twice this week, and luckily my weight didn't fluctuate like crazy like it usually does afterwards.
I also took the opportunity this week to take some progress photos/measurements, which helped with my motivation while I was losing weight, but I'd slacked off on it when I hit maintenance. I've been doing a sort of recomp this past year - not with serious heavy lifting, but I've been progressing with the lifts/workouts that I have been doing, and I was happy to see that there have been some results over the past year. I've lost a tiny bit in my waist/abdomen and gained a tiny bit in my hips/legs. Nothing dramatic, but it's still progress, and it's helping to re-motivate me in my workouts. One of my struggles has been putting enough effort into my workouts and lack of motivation, and that's something that I still need to work on, but I might try to keep up more frequently with tracking progress to motivate myself.6 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: A good week, again with wide, predictable swings. I'm a bit low today, as I've spent the week banking for brunch tomorrow, as well as some tasty snacks to munch on while watching the next episode of GoT.
The weather has been wacky this week, with almost summer being followed by almost winter, so I've done most of my exercise inside. Not quite as many miles as last week, but I did start the progressive overload program that I'd been meaning to do for ages. If the DOMS is any clue, it appears to be working.
Have a great week, everyone!3 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I really didn't want to eat healthy today. From the start of this journey until today, I haven't suffered much in the way of cravings for things, or even for a greater quantity of food. Watching the scale go down was ample reward. This is...harder. That's not really the right word, but if anyone is going to know what I mean, it's you guys.
I did eat healthy until about 3:30pm, so I got my nutrients covered, but my pre-planned dinner of veggies and beans didn't appeal in the least. Nor did my backup plan of a mango quinoa salad. Gosh darn it, I wanted pizza and wine. So I had pizza and wine. But then the cheesy pizza led me to a craving for some junky snack food, so I compromised and had some reduced-fat Cheeze-Its. Not a whole box, just 20. I feel like I'm done for the day now, thank god. But that FEAR that eating something indulgent will lead to more indulgence is real, and it's visceral. And I fed that fear by eating snack crackers after eating pizza.
I mean, I KNOW I'm in maintenance now. I KNOW I had calories banked from the week. I KNOW going over my week's allotment by less than 100 calories isn't going to magically put all the weight back on overnight. But wow, am I ever fighting to feel that knowledge in my gut. And watching myself go from one indulgence to another in the space of an hour really freaked me out.7 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Getting back to my comfort zone although would like to see it a little lower. Weather was warm so was outside walking more. A new addition arrived in our family although I said never again. A 9 year old 18 pound feline named Red found us and decided we were his forever home. One of my co-worker has a cat rescue and was was talking about how it is hard to place older cats they don't stand a chance against kittens. I knew it was over then and Red came home with me. Hubby told me he knew I would have another cat soon.8 -

You ~WILL~ have days you go off the rail. I had a couple the past week or two. The trick is recognizing that every day is a new day, and beating yourself up about it won't help. You may also notice that as you get near the bottom of your goal range, you do get a little more hungry. Pay attention to that. It may take a while to get dialed in to maintenance. I know my hunger signals have changed, but every now and then I still put too much food in my belly.
Four days ago, I closed my food journal too soon and then went on a tear. I was within my goal when I closed it, then I opened a bag of candy I won that I was planning to bring to my dive shift and then forgot. That was ok -- Ed brought cookies, and John brought pastries. That was hard enough to limit myself with. So I ended up 850 calories over. For one damn day. Even though I was about 2000 calories under my weekly goal April 8 - 14 and pretty much maintained at that level, I was disappointed with myself for letting myself get out of control. My logging includes a fair bit of estimation, so I'm not surprised that it's not dead on. I also don't completely trust calorie expenditure estimates, and I recognize we're really just estimating to find out what works for each of us. It's all good. I had another "over" day on Thursday, about 500 calories over. Same yesterday. But I was 700 under in between, and I'm still maintaining. My trending weight was just starting to creep up, and that's just my trigger that it's time to act! I will not get out of my range, and in fact, my second level goal is to never even get within two or three pounds from the top of my range.
I've mentioned several times that I think it's not bad when we detour from our journey. It's like a river trip or backpack trip. Sometimes there are side hikes or nearby attractions that take us off our path. That's fine. The journey is for us to enjoy! Just get back on the path when you're done with the side hike. It's a long path; it's a wending river. We can do it!5 -
HEAVIEST weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
Total Weight lost: 30 pounds
Time it took to lose: ~6 months
How long in maintenance: Since July 2018 -- but with some fluctuation outside of goal range.

Average weight recorded from 2017 (12 months): 163.8

April 30:
Success of the week: I seem to be maintaining just a hair above my ultimate goal, but still right near the bottom of my range. My scale weight never got more than 2.2 pounds over my goal, and my ten-day average has been really stable about a half pound over that goal.
Struggle of the week: I had an all-day training that kept me sitting in an uncomfortable chair for hours without movement. The food they served wasn't what I would have chosen. I did have a few days of eating more than I should have of foods I should be more moderate with. But hey -- like I just wrote, it's all part of the journey! I'm also still trying to get some details dialed in so I can go on a river trip soon, and that cuts into time I might otherwise be active.
Overall, April still looks pretty good. Daily fluctuations are there, but they are both down AND up. But the trend suggests, at least the last couple days, I'm gaining. Who knows what will happen when I'm on Rafters Rations and won't' even be trying to make estimates. I just figure I eat about 4000 calories per day on the river.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I was on vacation in NYC and ate whatever I wanted. I have no regrets, but I am back on weight loss mode (Ideal Protein Phase 1, for those interested/familiar). I am going through the mood changes when going ketotic, but it won’t be for long. I will report back next time with a weight close to my goal. Cheers!6 -
@mtaratoot Thanks so much for the pep talk. I needed it after last night. I don't mind eating extra calories when I'm hungry, that makes sense both in my head and in my gut. It was the screaming, "I WANT IT!" that scared me. I may just hold off on the pizza a bit, until I'm not so freshly into maintenance. It hadn't occurred to me that I might have trigger foods that prompt an urge to binge on crap, but I might just have stumbled across one last night.
A week ago I had my first treat night, I planned and budgeted for it, and I enjoyed it very much. I had no urge to eat junk afterward. So it's possible the strong urge to binge could be linked to the pizza itself, rather than to treating myself to a higher calorie meal. Or last night could simply have been a bad night.
Just in case, I think I'm going to avoid testing my control, by avoiding pizza again until I have a wee bit better grasp on what I can and cannot eat (along with how much and when) in order to maintain my weight.4 -
My pleasure @sharondesfor935.
Another really useful tool you can put into service is a trending weight app. Rather than post again what I've posted a few times before, you can check out a post from March where I describe them. They really help me when things don't always go right. One of them is where the graph I posted this morning came from.
Pizza is a tough one. Unless you just get a slice or are part of a group to share a pie, you end up with a bunch left over. And it sure is tasty. And it's hard.... to.... not.... have.... just... one... more.... slice. I had a deal a week or two ago when they made me the wrong slice. They gave me the wrong one to take home. I wrapped it in foil to have for lunch the next day. It got kind of mangled in my pannier on the bike ride home, but that didn't matter. If you think I saved that slice for lunch, you've got your head in the wrong place. If you think it even lasted an hour.... It was tasty. And I think that was the big spike up early April. But see how fast it moderated? Pizza is also full of salt, and that can have some temporary implications for the mass your scale reports.
We got this!3 -

Stephen, while I hurt for your gains, I must say I'm inspired by the fact that you post your weight faithfully, instead of hiding.
You make me want to promise that I will follow your example and post my weight every week, gain or loss. But like every step of this journey, a promise is easy, and follow through is tough. So instead of promising, I'm just going to do it. Fortitude, ho!6 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: This weekend I had a wedding reception, a Seder, and an Easter dinner. Three big meals with hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and desserts! Right now when I’m trying to figure out maintenance calories and not overshoot them, it’s been stressful to have such a lot of social events in the same three-day span. I definitely made good choices and planned and enjoyed, but I felt so anxious about it on Saturday that I had to leave a little get-together early. I hop on the scale today (4/22, Monday) and I’ve literally lost weight, when I thought the crazy delicious dessert I had yesterday was gonna put me way over! I really had to talk myself down, though, and I think I’m still losing because I’m a little scared of eating all my maintenance calories and having an unexpected event that I can’t enjoy. Definitely something I will work on with my therapist next week.3 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: As expected my weight is up this week. But it is still within range and I know that it is mostly just water weight plus extra food in my system. My birthday was Thursday and then we had a big family Easter celebration so there was lots of extra food this weekend. I tried to make smart choices, but I also just enjoyed the food. I certainly don't eat like that all the time anymore and I know that one weekend is not going to cause me to suddenly gain back 80 pounds.6 -

Success/Struggles: I'm still sidelined from my injury and can't cycle or run still. I'm realizing at this point my relationship with food is not as healthy as I assumed since reaching maintenance - higher activity seems to keep my appetite in check, and I've been well over my weekly calories for the past couple of weeks while not being active. Today I've committed myself to being mindful of why I'm over-eating as well as recalling strategies for avoiding it, since I lost most of my weight while mostly sedentary.
Wishing everyone a successful upcoming week!

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Aunt Flo is here and it's extremely demotivating. I ran a solid 8 miles on Sunday and had two good Easter dinners. Other than the dinners I did well with my diet. No Easter candy! I'm hoping to be down to 152 after this week.5 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Easter weekend, Sunday lunch with my daughter and grandchildren. We had a proper roast lamb lunch, with roast veg. The children (7 yrs and 5 yrs) had baked a chocolate cake for dessert. They had used a lot of butter icing, mini choc eggs, mini marshmallows etc etc.! However, we were outside in the garden for several hours, playing with the children, so that offset the food a bit. And my daughter is very conscious of ensuring they have a healthy diet so we had strawberries and watermelon for treats instead of chocolate eggs. I took my mum (she’s 90) so we didn’t stay late and I could have sensible food for supper after I got home. It’s a 3 hour round trip, tiring. I know one meal won’t derail my efforts.
However, we are away for a few days this week, that will be more of a challenge.
Good luck to all!

Successes and Challenges:
Holding steady with my weight. Lots of stress that can be overwhelming. But had 230 active minutes last week. Yesterday was both an Easter family get together and my daughter’s birthday so tons of sugar available. Had just a few pieces of Easter candy and one small piece of birthday cake. Ate a par tonight for dessert instead of digging into sweets.
Trying very hard to remember that if I stick with my healthy routines I will cope better with the stress.5 -

Okay, so this was an eye opener. I thought I was majorly failing at this maintenance thing, but actually I'm doing pretty well. My goal is to maintain through summer then shed about 10 more pounds, then maintain again7 -

I'm still sort of amazed at how much I can eat on maintenance (because in the past when I maintained I never logged). Over a week of eating around 2,200 calories, which is my TDEE, and maintaining. Yesterday I didn't log and I felt a bit guilty as I was eating 'junk.' Added it up in the evening and it was still around 2,200.8 -
That's really a good habit, i will keep on it.1

You guys....I know it's not weekly weigh in time, but I just weighed myself and I'm down to 151! That's six pounds less than Monday. Definitely motivating me to keep going.5
