My NSV has been tracking my food honestly so far this week.

I've been questioning whether the weight lifting I've been doing is actually doing me any good, so I decided I should update and print out a new spreadsheet (I have to have a spreadsheet to remind me how much weight on each lift) and in the 5 1/2 weeks that I have been doing this program I have increased the weight on every lift, some by as much as 15 lbs and I have gone from 15, 12, 10 reps to 15, 15, 1516

After 4 months on a whole foods, plant based diet, my eating has normalized. I will be eating my morning bowl of oatmeal or a lunch salad, and realize halfway in that I am full and stop eating. I have started cutting back on portion sizes to avoid wasting food. My taste for high sugar, high salt, and high fat foods has changed--too sweet, too salty, too greasy. My blood sugar is stable and I rarely feel hungry between meals. I have lost 2 inches off of my waist, my menopausal pot belly has disappeared. I am down 12 pounds. I have 20 to go, but my blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and triglyceride levels are all down. Feeling happy!34

Hey @kristingjertsen , that is so great! I too am following a plant-based diet (Dr Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live). My tastes have changed. I have lost all the weight I set out to lose. I am now focused on building muscle through resistance training, and looking forward to getting the numbers back from my annual physical!12

Sorry - but I had a SV today that I want to throw up here - I hit goal weight with 0.2 lbs to spare.
Total weight loss was 18 pounds in 11 weeks.
I did this obscure, weird diet plan called "counting calories and exercising"...it will never catch on.37 -
Last year I needed a swimsuit for a cruise and shopped all over before settling on something out of desperation. When I saw photos of me wearing it I was so embarrassed. I wore that swimsuit last night in the hot tub and the bottom part was practically falling off me. It's time for a new suit!!19

I was kind of nervous about easter weekend. In the past, having company visit is where I've gone off track and everything has derailed. We had company Thursday-Monday, and while I did allow myself some latitude during their visit, I went to a spin class Saturday morning and I didn't go completely nuts with eating - and I got back right on track Tuesday morning. It felt great getting to the gym Tuesday, and more than that it felt great knowing I'm equipped to face stumbling blocks (like social eating and disruptions to my normal routine I do so well with) head on and move past them.

I did not have trouble getting back on track after splurging for Easter. That's been a problem for me in the past so it's nice to feel like my deficit eating is "getting back to normal" rather than having to "get back on the wagon".13

My 200th day logging into MFP. Funny how motivating it is to keep a streak going.23

Needed a short sleeve tech shirt since I got a sunburn on the tops of my shoulders wearing a sleeveless shirt, and the one I liked that was on sale was only available in small. And it looks great!
Talked to my neighbor and he said, “Wow, you look really athletic now!” Also my husband says the neighbor was trying not to ogle my legs.
I need some NSVs to keep my morale up since my Achilles’ tendon is preventing me from running right now. But this too is an NSV! Last year at about the same time I had an injury which stopped me from running and I went into a full on panic thinking I would regain all the weight I had lost and lose my fitness. This time I just switched to other forms of cardio, cut calories, and carried on. I’m really hoping to be able to run again soon, but I also know that I can cope with it if I don’t. Since life inevitably happens to everyone, it’s important to be ready when it does.19 -
I wore size 34 black jeans to work today. Why is this an NSV? Because I haven’t worn size 34 in years... perhaps in high school but that was half a lifetime ago. Also, I’m not the best dresser so but I had the confidence to pull off something “edgy” like black jeans28

I love visiting here and reading these stories. My scale hasn’t gone downwards in weeks, most of the time it fluctuates upwards, despite exercising. My NSV is that while I can’t seem to drop the weight I have dropped a total of 20 cm around my body and the scale doesn’t own me anymore. Using that pink tape measure makes me feel great because it’s taking in account the whole of me so if one goes up the other go down I can see/feel I am making progress. I eat up to my calorie limit and incorporate exercise on top and it all is making me faster, and stronger.14

Great one! I closed my diary this week so that I could do the same....when I am feeling back in control of this reality...I am opening it again. Weird mind game but its what I need right now to keep myself in reality. Great way to do yourself a favor BTW!11 -
Every spring, my husband and I take a hiking trip out West. In 2018, I weighed just 2 lb more than I do currently, but I remember feeling bloated on the trip & barely fitting into my jeans on Day 5. I told myself it was a combination of sodium & activity etc. When we looked over the photos, I didn't love my appearance in a lot of the active, full body pics.
Fast forward to this year...I felt fantastic every single day of the trip. I ate in restaurants and hiked all day for hours & still felt good and comfortable. I like every single photo of me. This is all a big NSV for me since I haven't lost weight...I mean 2 lb is pretty much nothing to me! But the change from one year to the next (in Year 5 of maintaining my major loss)...to me that is worth celebrating. I also notice more muscle in my arms and I am a lot stronger. I haven't done any lifting, yet. But I have been a lot more active & doing more stuff that requires lifting even if it's just moving around my mom's mobility aids or DIY household projects. I am really motivated to keep it up.31 -
thinking about how my eating habits have changed, went to Bojangles for fish sandwich which was really good, ate 1/2 the bun and just a few fries, yes a few. I use to would have eaten that sandwich , a piece of chicken, all the French fries and some pie. No I don't need that anymore, I like being slim and weighing less in the morning because morning will come.14

I'm living in Japan and the clothing sizes here are TINY! When I first arrived in August, it was so discouraging trying to find clothes that would fit. I think I found a couple of items that fit out of at least 100. I couldn't be picky at all about my style.
Fast forward to yesterday when I needed new clothes for my vacation that starts today since all of my clothes are starting to get pretty loose. Out of the 20 clothes that I tried on, 12 or so of them fit! Granted these were still Ls and XLs but it's so nice to have options!14 -
I recently put on a couple of dresses that I last wore in the autumn, and they’re noticeably less tight on me.
I’m the same weight now as I was then.

I bought a new belt! (34" belt) I tossed the old one, so no looking back now! A few more pounds and all these 34" pants are going to have go too as they're already too big as it is.12

Weight has gone up a bit in the last couple weeks but ran 2.8 miles this morning and I'm sticking with my plans and not getting discouraged!14

Mine is finally at the "Bottom 50% of your age" which I think is a little negative, why not the "top" 50%!? Congrats on the improving VO2.
My victory today is a semi scale/non scale victory in that I could now pass a Navy weigh in and physical readiness test (run/sit-up/pushups) for the first time since my discharge 7 years ago!9 -
Yet again I had a smaller pair of jeans waiting in my closet and yesterday I tried them on and actually wore them. Today I ordered more in the smaller size.11

Had a pretty bad night last night (family making me feel extremely bad). Instead of turning to food and eating until there is nothing left to eat like I usually do, I stayed away from it. This morning I'm still quite upset, but despite that, I'm sticking to my plan and I am not allowing emotions to guide me to the fridge. For an emotional eater who uses food as stress relief, this is big. Especially considering just how upset I was last night.40

Another NSV today - went out and ran for 4km (walked/ran) for the first time since I was a kid. It felt good.
