What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

Mmm manipulation - I want to have the edge of being slender in social situations from job interviews to the micro interactions with everyday people. I want that benefit.24

My fat(ter) brother in law is getting gastric and I don't want to be the last fatty left in my family 😂13

Outside of all the normal reasons I want to reduce my breast size and fit in to some hoodies I bought that ended up being too small 😂8

I want to be smaller than my husband.
I want to not be worried about bumping into exes or friends I haven't seen for years - I don't want them to think that they had some sort of lucky escape.
I want to shave my hair (down to a #1 or #2) and don't want to look butch.
Lots of other really healthy reasons aswell, but I've definitely got some more superficial ones.12 -
I want to wear jean cut off shorts and not be self-conscious.9

My son starts school this year and I can see the “mums race” at sports day on the horizon11

Ugh, because I gained some weight over the last year and a half of cancer treatment, following a massive weight loss. (I had lost 60% of my total body weight from my highest weight). My "skinniest" clothes are now too tight and I'm TIRED of giving them to my teenager. I'm also tired of being reminded how good I once looked and how healthy I once was.26

Don't want to look/feel like a sack of tatties when I go clothes shopping7

I need to lose 15 pounds to have abs to show during a beach vacation in August. I used to have them, but then I had a baby and 4 years later I still didn’t shed the extra weight I’ve put on during pregnancy.

I don’t want to go into divorce court chubby . I have the two kids and all the responsibility and he has bachelor life. He will not win!! I also have a new boyfriend who I want to be my best for.. 😜23

Smaller clothes don't cost as much.11

I want to be able to wear clothes that fit my aesthetic. I'm currently too fat to even hope of getting into the kind of clothes I find cute and would be cute on me. Sick and tired of having to buy clothes old ladies wear. I do have a style, but it doesn't come in my current size.
I will never wear floral again I swear to effing god.30 -
My petty reason for wanting to lose weight is to be skinnier than my BF's ex. Not because HE says anything but because I know it bothers her.
My main reason to lose weight is to be healthy going into middle age.12 -
I want to have a waistline instead of a gut.13

I have a lot of good reasons to lose weight, but of course there are some petty ones
Top of my head:
1. To outdo a few "friends" (read this with huge air quotes). They've been losing and gaining weight (and are much bigger than I am), but they see it fit to lecture me (like no way to lose weight unless you do keto or eat 1200cals... like... no,that's not how it works...)
2. I have some specific clothing styles that I want to be comfortable enough to do;
3. I want to be referred as hot. And I want people to talk about how I used to be very fat, but I lost all the weight. :P8 -
Because people said i couldn't. People at my workplace can be dicks.18

Absolutely love this topic. After all the natural good reasons (health, feeling good, etc.) I want to just feel sexy again and it would be nice to hear, damn girl, looking good, ha ha ha. Just had baby #4 and I never thought my body would be the way it is now. Its awesome that they don’t care how I look but I want to feel more comfortable when I am out with them and just for me.7

My petty reason is to be smoking hot the next time I see my ex. He lulled me in to thinking that he loved me as I was, 50 pounds overweight. 4 months later he dumped me for a skinny chick. After I got over the devastation, I picked myself up by my bootstraps and took myself to task for all of my bad eating habits and laziness. I’m down 39.8 pounds as of today and will be in my sexy size 10’s in no time. Petty, but soooooo motivating. Can’t wait to see the look on his face when he sees the new, happier, healthier me! Revenge will be sweet!28

I want to look good when I get married and not live the rest of my life cringing at my wedding photos. Also to say a massive f you to my father and my ex who called me fat for years (even though I wasn’t really!) can’t wait. 🙃🙃19

I'll never be the skinniest person in the office, but I don't want to be the fattest person!8

I was always the fat one in my family and the awkward ugly duckling. Now, in my 30s I've come into my own; I'm articulate, well dressed, and immaculately groomed. The only things between me and the milf I want to be is my body fat percentage and my waist to hip ratio. I'm ready to be the hot one in my family. Next year, two of my siblings are going to be having beach weddings, and I want to be the best looking bridesmaid both times.20

I've posted before that I don't want to be the fat one at our family holiday. Yesterday my sister said we could all just share clothes and pack less! Getting there, but now I really want to be able to say "sorry, but that will be too big on me, thanks though!"12

I’ve went through 4 ankle surgeries in the past 7 yrs, so I’ve gained weight as a result. I’ve been somewhat limited to what I can do or I will end up with an ankle fusion as the next step. I was telling my parents about the trainer we hired for our 16yo son (his request, he’s an athlete) and my Dad said, “He should take his Mother with him!” And proceeded to laugh. My Dad is overweight & has always been emotionally abusive to my brother and me along with our Mother. I found a saying ‘Avoiding certain people to protect your emotional health is not weakness. It’s wisdom.’ I am finally ready & need to do this for myself; I’m 48 & if I don’t get it under control now, I don’t think I ever will.18

My husband's ex wife is extremely large. Not that I have anything against large people in general, I just really dislike her, she's just really lazy and promotes an unhealthy lifestyle on my stepdaughter. And it makes me feel better knowing that I'm really fit, she's probably jealous, and I'm a better role model to my stepdaughter than she is.
That and my ex boyfriend cheated on me after 6 years and it feels so AMAZING to see the look on his face every time I run into him in public, when he realizes how much weight I've lost since he dumped me for my best friend.23 -
Okay here’s my petty reason: I want to be under 200 so that if I wanted to, I could ride a mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon! (You have to “make weight”...under 200#) Now I’m not saying I would actually do it, but I want to have the option!! 😀18

I didn't think it was 'petty', but I recently saw a post on social media from a plus size bride about not wanting to lose weight for her wedding. That's fine, I respect that you're happy the way you are and your partner clearly loves you that way too. No one 'needs' to lose weight for their wedding and you should do what makes you happy.
What was not okay was the rest of the post which read 'if the only reason someone is trying to lose weight is for their wedding pictures I genuinely feel sorry for them'...
What the hell?
I will keep those pictures forever, I will show my kids those pictures, my grandparents will proudly display them on their walls and show them off to visitors. Maybe it is petty and vain but I know my insecurities and don't want to be looking at them in a ten years wishing I'd put a little more effort in to look extra incredible on the biggest day of my life.
So yeah... I'm petty and someone feels sorry for me for wanting to look amazing on my wedding day *rolls eyes*15 -

They? Who the ef is they? They can just go jump in a lake, no??! What idiots. (and thank your spouse for their service)8 -
So i can be known as the fit friend again, and so i look INCREDIBLE in my wedding dress.6
