Am I as likely to gain weight from under eating as overeating?

    No.

You gain weight when you eat more than your body burns. If you are eating less then your body burns (ie: calorie deficit), you will continue to lose weight.

Your body stores fat to use as fuel if you need it.

It does not therefore make sense that it would hoard fat stores when you are at a calorie deficit. It keeps those to keep you from starving.

More likely, undereating will cause depression, hunger pains and an eventual binge, where you eat so much you reverse whatever loss you might have had.

I was always told that if you under eat (startve) your body goes into starvation mode and you most likely gain x2 the weight is this true or false? Help

    False!
Starvation mode as most ppl think of it is a myth.
There may be a minimal effect in that by giving your body less fuel you then have less energy and so will feel more lethargic and may subconsciously move less and be more sedentary thus burning less calories.

People often say to think of it in terms of if the starvation myth were true then how is it that people die from starvation?
